Are you ready for death?

When my mother died last year she was not prepared at all.

No will, no life insurance, nothing...good thing she didn't have a whole lot and we kids knew exactly what to do with it all.

I ended up having to foot the bill for the funeral not complaining but I've been pushing my dad to be better prepared so we've been spending the last week doing this.

Anyway, I'm 37 and started to worry about my nieces who rely upon me and their future if I was to die tomorrow.

I have a will, I also have a safe that is fireproof with a letter of instructions for my sister to follow, however I do not have life insurance and figured I should find something real soon.

So you guys prepared? or are you expecting to live forever?

MrIzzz 02-10-2004 08:38 PM

I never got a return email when ARS was offering medical insurance after I filled out the form...they just knew I was sitting around waiting to collect on some benefits.:glugglug

Well, I'm 21..... So my answer would have to be: NO!

wyldblyss 02-10-2004 09:10 PM

Are your "instructions" a will or just a letter? If it is not a will, in order to protect the ones you want to leave your money to I would suggest you make it a legal will. A copy stays with the lawyer in safekeeping so even if your fireproof box gets lost, mislaid, taken, your wishes will still be honored.

No I have both...the letter of instructions give out detailed info on bank accounts etc.

invertiga 02-10-2004 09:13 PM

Money wise i'm worth more dead than alive, kinda sad, lol

KRL 02-10-2004 11:32 PM

Can't wait. It surely will be more exciting then this dimension.

stevo 02-10-2004 11:36 PM

I still have another 80 years or so before i start worrying...

synergysex 02-10-2004 11:36 PM

I am ready.

But the insurance companies sure as hell arent - espically if its an accident. I have well over a million dollars in accidential death/dismemberment insurance. And I dont want to live through my dismemberment - I want to be dead.

Jamdin 02-10-2004 11:37 PM

No life insurance here...no health insurance either...I'm so screwed...

You think? How do you know? I wake up every day thinking today could be the big day.

Don't bank on 80 bud. Lots go ahead of schedule. Lots.

SoundMan 02-10-2004 11:39 PM

MY Dirt is paid for with a welded aluminum air tight box for my ass is all ready to go!~

Tiffany Paris 02-11-2004 12:26 AM

JDog 02-11-2004 12:33 AM

No I'm not ready in the sense that I will have everything covered, but I'm 21 and I take life one step at a time.

What a mature adult way to handle matters of life...avoid them ;)

CDSmith 02-11-2004 12:34 AM

No will yet, I'm having one prepared soon though. I do have life insurance and a growing chunk of money put away. I'll be ready.

Another question is.... are you all ready to deal with the fact that you're going to die? I find that most people aren't. I can honestly say without a doubt that I have come to terms with death's inevitability and am at peace with it. Being shit scared of it is a waste of energy, it's going to happen whether you like it or not.

I doubt his life will be over, no matter what happens to you. Kids find a way of surviving no matter what happens around them. :)
