are there TOO MANY webmaster conventions?
theres like one a fucking month now what the fuck is that all about?
can you say overkill |
No but there are too many webmasters
|
Yes.
|
There's two... Vegas and Florida. January and August. The rest don't count cuz I'm not there! LOL.
|
I can only handle getting sick like I did in Vegas once per year!
|
Your best bet is to hit the majors and whichever smaller show is close to you.
Speaking of which, anyone hitting Vegas March 1st? I hear rumors of a big party to kickoff a new webmaster proggie ;-) rumor has it for three hours at the V bar, there will be food and drinks with a couple big names already secretly agreeing to appear... more to follow on this vicious rumor ;-) and from what I understand it's not really a webmaster gathering so much as just some people chilling in Vegas to some tunes, alcohol and food... anyone else know muh about this rumor? email me [email protected] |

shit I'm down! |
Keep in mind that a lot of these webmasters live the Boo Radley lifestyle, and only leave the house for conventions. Once a month keeps them more or less active.

once a month is awesome. I'm doing one a month.

There's obviously a demand for it or they wouldn't host them... |

I personally think the Vegas, Phoenix and Miami shows are the three most important. You meet up with the industry 3 times a year and get some good networking done.
If there is a small show in your area, cant hurt to attend, but I wouldnt go outta my way to attend the others. |

You need to remember that a good chunk of us spend 12 hours a day, 7 days a week in front of a computer with little outside interaction. Unfortunately meaning few friends outside of the industry. The events are a great way to see your friends and do business at the same time. Once a month may be too much for some, while perfect for others.

I think the high amount of conventions keeps the networking flowing, the faces familiar, and it gives people a chance to see who is real and who is BS. :thumbsup
