Star Wars DVD coming out

Sept 21 is the day. The original is finally on DVD.

it's too bad they are only releasing the special editions

I can't watch the original ones now because i have seen the Special Editions. When it gets to a bit, i'm always thinking "that should be happening there now"

Pity they are still not adding in some of the missing footage though...

Bout fucking time. I'm shocked he waited this long, but ya just know he's gonna release them like one at a time. Then as a trilogy. Then the first 3 will be released one at a time (2/3s way there), then that'll be released as a trilogy and then all 6 as a box set. Fuck is gonna clean up on people that want to have every edition. :)

I found some converted DVD's of the orginals in some news groups... they were created from the orginal Laser Disks... not bad quality but not as good as a DVD but still better than tape..

Only one I'm missing is Empire Strikes back, which was my favorite movie of the series. I'll grab these for sure when they come out, but I agree I wish they would have released the orginals insted of the special editions.

The "originals" will only exist on VHS/laserdisc. Sadly, Lucas is trying to kill them forever. While some of the special edition stuff is nice, a lot of it is super cheesy (Solo stepping on Jabba's backside, Greedo getting off a horrible shot at Solo ... groan). I'd take the real originals any day on DVD.

Yah, that whole Jabba scene was a fucking joke. :(

ive got my originals on vhs but nothing to play them on. i wish they would release them on dvd, the special editions suck

Apart from the scene as a whole being piss, you can actually see Han's arm going straight through Jabba at one point...

Nothing to really add but i agree, whats a few more dvd's in a box set, give us both versions :)..

What sucks is that Lucas has disowned the originals. For all practical purposes, the "special editions" have replaced them. He has said they will never be re-released on modern media, but we shall see ...
