"Nine months ago, President Bush signed a law that bans the use of misleading Web addresses to lure children to view material harmful to minors. "

Thats interesting, I wonder if a porn company will pick it up. Whoever wants the domain is going to have to pay $1 million+.

Daniel Parisi - I like that guy. If I remember correctly, he is the same guy who runs sucks500.com (used to be sucks.com). He shit all over Lockheed Martin and Micheal Bloomberg in a WIPO case over some of his sucks domains.

Quote:

"Every time our kids were doing homework about the White House or the presidency, they would type in dot-com," said Parry Aftab, who runs the WiredSafety organization. "It's always been the poster child for where our kids can get into trouble with porn by accident."

Officials at the White House, the General Services Administration and the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration refused comment on the pending sale. The GSA assigns federal Web addresses; the telecommunications agency regulates U.S. policies on Internet addresses.

Nine months ago, President Bush signed a law that bans the use of misleading Web addresses to lure children to view material harmful to minors.
Bush can sign all the laws he wants - they'll be struck down by the Supreme Court. Just like The Communications Decency Act.

And if I had a million bucks, I would buy the domain in a heartbeat. Would make one hell of a parody site of any kind - one could really commercialize on that one.

Damnit, I hope I win the powerball tommrow night!!!

that law is flawed, because they have to prove you were "luring" children intentionally. just because he registered whitehouse.com doesnt mean he was trying to lure children. i suspect this law will get slammed quite a bit if anyone has the brains to fight it.

I thought the site was named after "Mary Whitehouse" the porn advocate and not the U.S. Whitehouse.. still it's very misleading and I figured it would be one of the first targets on Bush's and Asscrafts list...
