I'll bet it's unbelievable...but you could go somewhere reasonable and use the rest of the money for a down payment on a car or something.

That's about the best one you're going to find on Maui. Stay in the grand suite for $10,000 a night.

He asked where the best place to stay was and I told him.
I did not say it was cheap!

If you want to stay somewhere nice and save on food and bev, try The Palms at Wailea. Awesome 2 story condo facility. Nice 2 bedrooms, 2 lanais, own barbeque, ocean views, own laundary, nice kitchen etc...

You can check them out here. Honestly a really nice mediteranean style complex.

The Grand Wailea, Kea Lani, and Maui Prince are all nice places on the SW portion of the island. The Kea Lani has great villas. I've stayed at all three places and you can't go wrong, especially with the high end suites.

I don't really care for the Kanapali or Lahaina areas. Hana is nice if you want quiet.

Head over to Lower Paia if you want to score any fun party favors.

Good suggestions. The Kealani is a fairmont hotel and is really nice. I got engaged there. We did not have a villa but the rooms are realy nice as well. The villas each come with your own dipping pool. Pretty cool. This, the Grand Wailea and the Four Seasons are beside each other and all are nice. Be sure to visit Mamas Fish House just north of Paia for a great dinner.

Lahaina and Kanapali are a lot more touristy in my opinion then Wailea. Wailea is a lush luxury resort area. Great golf at the blue and gold wailea courses and Makena course is just down the raod. Many a PGA and Seniors tour skins game have been played on these courses. Great snorkelling and diving in the area especially out at Molkini.

CabanaBoy 02-09-2004 05:52 PM

Yeah, Mamas Fish House is awesome. Ate there not too long ago. Make sure you get good directions because if you're not familiar with the area it's not the easiest to find. But WELL worth it.

The diving has sucked lately because of the weather. Still good whale watching though. Fishing is so-so for this time of the year.

If you're around Wailea, check out Seawatch for breakfast (or lunch). Great open air view of the ocean.

Hawaii is too far, and overpriced.

If you're going to Wailea, it's hard to argue with the Grand Wailea. Personally, I prefer to stay at the Palms of Wailea as well (AwfulKoffel, you've got great taste :thumbsup).

I wouldn't stay in Kihei, Lahaina or Kanapali either -- too touristy.

The other big option is to head north to Kapalua (better golfing). I prefer the Kapalua Bay Hotel (Starwood, but really nice). Just don't get suckered into the Ritz -- chain is on a serious downhill slide, and this one's no exception.

And if you don't hit Nick's Fishmarket down in Wailea, you're doing yourself a disservice. Love that place!

Nicks is definately the place, it is at the Kea Lani hotel. This where I proposed to my now wife.

Great advice Hustler :thumbsup We are there every September so maybe one year we can hook up if you are there at that time.

awfulkoffel 02-09-2004 06:23 PM

Hey Hustler,

Do you know a Kathleen who works with Flynt Digital?
I ironically met her at a Luau in Maui last September and saw her again at Internext in Vegas.

I am not sure of her position with Flynt.

Hustler DJ 02-09-2004 06:36 PM

Hmmm... don't know a Kathleen -- hit me up offthread, maybe she's in a different division or something....

Hooking up in Maui -- might have to do that! I actually just proposed to my bride-to-be in our last trip out there on a beach between Wailea and Makena - sounds like we've got a lot in common with that stretch of island! :1orglaugh

Hell, I think I smell a Webmaster Access::Maui that needs to happen... Lens!! Fuck Cancun/Atlanta/Montreal! Give us an excuse to go west!! :thumbsup
