That's totally not true.

A lot of people have cash needs from time to time and sell domains for fast money.

We're working on buying an excellent one right now where someone had a personal tragedy and they need a big chunk of dollars.

I agree with KRL, people have different reasons to sell. I may be selling some soon and they are good but I'm trying to consolidate and focus my efforts on other projects. I would rather not sell them but sometimes circumstances and goals dictate otherwise.
