registering a domain problem

ok i have a domain and on whois.sc it says aval.. so i goto godaddy to register it and it says it isnt, yet i can register it right from whois.sc any ideas?

dotwind 02-08-2004 04:12 PM

somebody might just have bought it and it takes a while for all registrars to synchronize. have seen it happen before

mardigras 02-08-2004 04:12 PM

Sometimes there's a lag in databases getting updated. If any of them let you register it, it's available:)

Scarab 02-08-2004 04:12 PM

up to 48 hours

NaughtyJenn 02-08-2004 04:13 PM

ok say i register it right now, what if someone has purchased it and it just hasnt updated.. any ideas?

NaughtyJenn 02-08-2004 04:15 PM

Nysus 02-08-2004 04:18 PM

Register.com was where I usually registered .country extensions, though haven't checked into them for years.

Cheers,
Matt

yeah right, register it somewhere else.. and damn, don't register it with GODADDY !! They are so fuckin' expensive!!

doober 02-08-2004 04:20 PM

Godaddy is pure crap, and stories keep popping up about them.
Directnic is the only place I trust with my domains, pay a few extra bucks and sleep better at nite.

That scares me - I have 27 domains listed with them... been using them for years with no problem.
Hope this isn't a mistake on my part!!

PlayGirl 02-08-2004 04:24 PM

hey jenn, you might wanna try registering with directnic.com... i think they're a bit more expensive than godaddy.com, but you won't run into problems in the future :)

Stallion 02-08-2004 04:25 PM

Check this one out $5.95 for registrations

what's their customer service like?

pussyluver 02-08-2004 04:30 PM

You can use http://networkresources.com

It's $17.95 for one year.

Has optional Secure Whois to keep your name and address off of whois searches. also offers Domain Lock for added protection.

Easy to use control panel.

Plus I will give you all the help you need with it. Yep it cost more, but hey, it's run by an adult webmaster!!!!! Me.

Stallion 02-08-2004 04:30 PM

I have never had a problem with them, only problem is you cannot manage all domains at once. You have to manage each domain by itself.

I use them and also Enom for $8.50/yr
