Is there a service like peapod in florida?

I have a friend who is disabled in Florida and was wondering if there was a food delivery service out there that I can sign him up to. I wanted to deliver his grocery's to him. If anyone knows of one, I would appreciate your help.

The url does not load, and if that name is a joke, then it's a pretty sick one.

Did you check out www.peapod.com ?

It should have a list of the areas they deliver too.

Jasmine, I did check peapod. They don't service his area. I was wondering if anyone knew of other similar services that may be in that area.

jasmine 02-08-2004 04:55 PM

I can check around for you. What part of Florida does your friend live ?

GonePhishing 02-08-2004 04:56 PM

Jasmine thanks for helping! I really appreciate your posting the number and all!:thumbsup

Hopefully I'll find something for him soon!

I checked them and peapod... Hopefully I can call both places and see what they have available out there. Maybe even if they can get close to where he is, he can just pick them up. It's really hard for him to get around in stores, but he still can drive.

Tylo and Jasmine. Thank you so much for taking the time to help with this. I think you two have found a couple options that may get it done!

If anyone out there has more suggestions please keep them coming!

That's cool at least there are other options for your friend just in case there is no other alternative. I think the url Tylo suggested should work well :)

Smaller independant supermarkets might be willing to deliver. When I was in college, my roomates and I set up a deal with a local small grocery store where they'd deliver a wide variety of produce and meats for $20 a week... 4 full sized boxes worth of food. They picked a variety of stuff that would probably go bad in about 2 weeks (but was still very edible), sold it to us, and we ate it in... about 4-5 days :)

Further, there *has* to be a church in the area that can help out. Churches often do this kind of thing for people who can't get out much. Most cities have a webpage that includes businesses and churches in the area; check those out for leads.

Good luck on helping your friend :thumbsup

Try calling Publix in the area that he lives in. They are running a test program in South Florida that you do online shopping and they deliver to the house.

I am not sure that they will do anything but they usually try to help people. Their corporate offices are in Lakeland FL..

Good luck
