Students accused of making sex videotape in school bathroom


Two Eastside High School students were arrested after school officials confiscated a camera and a sexually explicit tape of another female student allegedly made in a school bathroom, officials said.

Marcus Robert Brewer, 17, and Carmen Ashlia Moore, 18, were charged Wednesday as adults with enticement of a minor for indecent purposes and solicitation of sodomy, according to the Newton County Sheriffs office. The 15-year-old girl, whose name is being withheld because she is a minor, was released into the custody of her parents.

We received a call from the school saying that they had confiscated a camera that a 17-year-old male had brought to school, Newton County Sheriffs Sgt. Mark Mitchell said. School officials knew about this tape, so they took the camera.

Mitchell said Moore was present during the filming, but the 15-year-old girl was the only person Brewer filmed. She was shown revealing parts of her body but not performing a sexual act.

Newton County Schools spokeswoman Sherri Viniard said that Brewer and Moore attended Eastside through the Project Adventure program for troubled youths and are not Newton County residents.

All three students were suspended for 10 days and will face a tribunal for several school violations, where they could be suspended or expelled.

The tape was made during regular school hours sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Jan. 29, according to a police report.

More arrests are possible, officials said.
