Dreamwaver vs Notebook? In search of alternative...

Why the lots of Web designers mostly select between these 2 utmost alternatives? Some say: " Dreamwaver rulez and everything else just sux". Others say "notepad forever!!!" There are lots of products in the middle of these pillars. I mean those special non-visual HTML editors. Most of them are free and they surely better than M$ notepad. Some time ago I was wonder if I could do some really good replacement for the M$ Notepad and I have created the X-Pad editor. I did try to make it as simple as possible. But on other hand, I was tried to furnish it with all of the most useful features, such as syntax highlighting, automatic HTML element generator etc. So, if there any one who'd like to try it out, just go to http://www.fhgstore.com/wmtools.html or http://www.maturedesign.com/freestuff.html and download the mentioned utility (it's only 391K and doesn't need to be installed).

I will be REALLY grateful to hear some of your recommendations/suggestions regarding further improvement of the X-Pad editor.

A good way to find alternatives to something is to google for:

SOMETHING Vs

in this case.... dreamweaver vs

Doing that shows me it's most well known competitors are:

Frontpage, GoLive & Net Objects Fusion

There is also Mozilla Composer if you wanted a open source freeware solution.

These are commercial ones. Furthermore, I'm mostly talking about non-visual composing alternative - an alternative to most popular notepad.exe

I personally like Homesite. PHP code is also displayed in different colors, makes it easier when hacking through code. You can also edit the same file in two different windows, I like.
