shit, my friend is falling for a scam...

This HAS to be a scam... what do you guys think? Ever heard of this??

-----------------------------------------------------------------
girl: you're really pissing me off

xenigo: well I'm sorry

xenigo: if I told you I'm transferring $4000 from my bank account to some random person in Latvia, you'd be curious too... at least I'd hope you'd be

girl: i mean your acting like it's your right to know and if i don't tell you then i am being secretive that bugs me intensley

girl: curious but not "why are you being so secretive and all that bullshit

girl: i deal with the us creditors

girl: they do their money in local checks and the german govt takes longer to clear checks, the clearing process takes up to two months

xenigo: ok...

girl: so they pay me commission for cashing and sending the checks because it is cheaper than them waiting 2 months for it to clear on their side

girl: i have a legal contract it was on the govt i contacted the company who it is with i contacted the govt site people

Juicy D. Links 02-07-2004 05:28 PM

JDog 02-07-2004 05:29 PM

I know a couple people who actually do similar things and end up making out just fine. It all depends on the relationship between the two parties. Trusted, or not.

xenigo 02-07-2004 05:31 PM

I am seriously worried about this, what the hell could this possibly be? I knew it was a scam the second she told me about it, but has anyone ever heard of this particular one????

Yeah, but in Latvia? That's one of those countries KNOWN for this kind of shady shit! Besides, countries have their own people to handle funds. They don't need people in the USA transferring funds from Germany to their country. I dunno, this says scam all over it...

A friend of mine that I've known for a couple years, used to live in Sacramento but recently moved to Oregon, and is looking for employment up there. Never thought she'd fall for something like this though...

Rick Latona 02-07-2004 05:37 PM

Was it an SMS message? If so, definately a scam.

I think this was something she found online, but she is being wayyyyyy secretive about it, and wouldn't tell me hardly anything without throwing a fit.

Titan 02-07-2004 05:41 PM

Its a classic scam. She'll never see her money again. She has a legal contract with latvian govt... So when they break the contract all she has to do is goto Latvia to sue :1orglaugh

Radik 02-07-2004 05:42 PM

What a waste of time, post the whole thing..
obvously more to this, because if makes no sense.

Sly_RJ 02-07-2004 05:48 PM

Don't worry about it. She'll learn the hard way.

lock 02-07-2004 07:21 PM

If it isnt this it will be the 10 cds for $1 by joining the cd club. If she will go for that she will go for anything.

venturi 02-07-2004 07:34 PM

Geez! Even IF it were a "legit" transaction it's likely a money laundering scheme and when the shit goes down she'll be the one holding the bag.

LATIVA WANTS YOU!

To wire us $4000 when you recieve our official government approved check for $4500, that will have clearing delays for 2 weeks before it finally bounces!

goBigtime 02-07-2004 07:52 PM

Can I have her SN, I have something very important to talk to her about . . .

:winkwink:

goBigtime 02-07-2004 07:54 PM

But really, if you want to be her friend... since she doesn't want to list to you --- just show her this and this

CamChicks 02-07-2004 08:13 PM

best case: lost money
worst case: jail time

GonePhishing 02-07-2004 08:18 PM

Is it too late? Did she already do it? Just show her scambusters.com. Hopefully she gets out of it!

Thomas N 02-07-2004 08:47 PM

Bottom line: why the hell would SHE have to put money up first?

If it's real (it isn't) she should tell the people to send her $4k first to start the business... after all they are claiming they need her service. They need her service, they pay for it. Wake your friend up fast, cause she is never going to see that money again if she sends it.

Theo 02-07-2004 09:07 PM

scam

{fusion} 02-07-2004 09:28 PM

yeah if you feel somethings not right walk away.

Basic_man 02-07-2004 09:30 PM

Yeah.. looks like a scam.. :warning

brizzad 02-07-2004 09:32 PM

rofl

slap her

icedemon 02-07-2004 09:38 PM

Tell her to give the $4,000 to me instead and I'll give her $5,000 back in a month instead of two. They're scamming cause it actually only takes one month, not two.

She make money faster, sending me $4,000 a week. The faster I get it, the faster I can get the banks to process the funds and give her one ot two thousand extra back.

They're apparently sending her checks which she's depositing into her bank account. I guess she opened a new one to do this with, which isn't going to save her because her SSN is still associated with it. There's no point in waking her up at this point because she's already set that this is what she wants to do... she ripped on me for 2 hours about how I'm such a jerk for "questioning her judgement" about this. I've done what I can, now I'm going to watch her lose $4,000. Expensive mistake I suppose, but that's life.

I sent her the link to this thread, and that REALLY set her off. I wouldn't be suprized if she popped in here to defend the Latvian Government...

BruceM 02-08-2004 12:22 AM

After she gets fucked and loses her money, be sure to post an OWNED pic of her in this thread lol

pornkitten 02-08-2004 12:26 AM

girl: i have a legal contract it was on the govt i contacted the company who it is with i contacted the govt site people
what the hell does that mean..
