Fight the End!

swedguy 02-07-2004 09:35 AM

I'm sorry to hear that, Brandon. Good luck with your future venture :thumbsup

CyberTraffic 02-07-2004 09:35 AM

I don't care what anyone says, you're a great person for doing what you did.

Let it be known that your efforts are appreciated throughout the adult community.

Thank you, and I'm sorry for what you percieve as a failure.

raceman 02-07-2004 09:39 AM

Sorry to see you go Brandon and good luck with your new venture .............................

:thumbsup

Rochard 02-07-2004 09:48 AM

I agree that you've been a huge help. News coming out of the courtroom has been slow, but these things move slowly and I'm sure Spike has a number of people buggering him for info including those of us still directly invovled in the lawsuit and fighting Acacia.

Your efforts will not be forgotten.

Trax 02-07-2004 09:49 AM

sorry to hear

NBDesign 02-07-2004 09:51 AM

Your story sounds somewhat similar to mine.. I had to sue a client to get paid... it took a week to get the verdict of the trial.. The judge said he would have a decision that evening or in the morning... It took a week.

I feel your frustration... :(

pimplink 02-07-2004 09:52 AM

Never quit. Never surrender.

Mike AI 02-07-2004 09:52 AM

Quiters are almost as bad as those who settle.

I left my other thought on the other board.

xdcdave 02-07-2004 09:53 AM

Best of luck in your ventures Brandon. It was nice getting all of those Acacia updates though, and it will be missed.

It's good to see that the ASACP has such dedicated hard working people on it's board. :thumbsup

buddyjuf 02-07-2004 09:55 AM

shame it had to end this way
I am sure I speak for all of us when I say "Thank You"

I hope you can apply this dedication in other aspects of your life and become more of a hero then you already are :thumbsup

Good Luck!

thanks for all the kind words... i am a bit bitter about this, but it will pass... i am still fighting, just for new causes because this patent one is out of my hands... and with mainstream covering it... you'll be getting more news stories.

You can read about the courtroom news like i did this morning:

That really sucks that spike kinda blew you off like that. YOu where the voice of the patent. Sad to see this end. Sometimes it was like " ugh another acacia thread " by you but EACH and everyone had REAL information. Sometimes im sure we are going to miss. If you wake up tommrow morning and thinkg " What the hell did i Just do ? " Im sure our family will be happy to take ya back and listen to all the reports you can gather up.

Hmm wonder what spike is doing ? :(

Good work, Brandon...
Remember, Paul Revere got the word out, he didn't win the war:)

Paul Markham 02-07-2004 10:06 AM

Sad news, Brandon has done more than anyone to get the news and beat up support for the fight.

:( :(

That's a great analogy!

The heroes of this fight are the defendants. They are spending their money and putting their businesses on the line for everyone.

They still need your support..and I still support their efforts in the fight..

Using your analogy i have rung the bells enough that my ears are ringing, and everyone knows what color the enemy is.. so now it's up to the lawyers to fire the shots.

I understand that you feel slighted that you had to read what happened in the news. You certainly put a lot of effort into the community up to date on Acacia happens. I got the impression that XBiz and AVN got their articles out quickly because they had people in the courtroom. Its been less than 24 hours since the hearing and a Saturday to boot. Perhaps Spike intentionally slighted you, but its also quite likely that given the stressful day he had yesterday he want to spend time with his family and sleep late.

rockbear 02-07-2004 10:16 AM

Hi Brandon

This is really sad. Nobody will be able to bring us the information about Acacia as you did the past 7months. I really hope that you will come back on your decision my friend. Good luck with your new job.

Thanks for the thought, but AVN and Xbiz have written some fine articles previously and also ones about the Markman Hearing published yesterday.

NPR and InternetNews.com covered the story. The Chronicle of Higher Learning did a major article previously and will be doing a follow up. StreamingMedia.com is now presenting news about Acacia. Other mainstream media outlets will be picking up this story as well.

So there will be plenty of sources to get news, there won't be a void of news.

It it really is now in the hands of the court to decide.

Even if there is a ruling against the defendants, all is not over. I have been talking with many mainstream companies who are fully aware of Acacia, and have already taken their own steps to prepare for their defense.

It is a shame that mainstream didn't step in to help fight this battle. They are sitting on the sidelines until they get called into the fight.

I do believe the defendants will prevail in this round.

Doctor Dre 02-07-2004 10:29 AM

Sorry to hear that ... too bad you was kinda fightning alone . Webmasters should have grouped together but they all went in their own ways . It would have taken a Lensman, Mark from ARS or Larry Flynt to get everybody together :(

Phoenix 02-07-2004 10:34 AM

Don't give up man

i look forward to your thoughts on the matter.

Good luck with www.cydataservices.com and that fight as well.

greentea 02-07-2004 10:38 AM

I admire your efforts, sadly the revolution must go on.

12clicks 02-07-2004 10:38 AM

No surprize.

Tipsy 02-07-2004 10:41 AM

Sorry to hear you feel the need to back down in this as you've done something few else could be bothered to do i.e. got the news out to almost everyone.

The best of luck though with current and future ventures. It'll be nice to have something/someone hitting copyright violaters hard that has a actually clue. Long overdue.

latinasojourn 02-07-2004 11:33 AM

the simple fact is that more than anyone else, you Brandon, were the conduit to much of the information surrounding this case.

we can't really expect the defendents to give us much information.

i understand your sentiments completely.

this issue isn't going away, but i believe it will resolve itself within 18 months.

there is already a viable workaround to acacia even if the "DMT" patent is upheld, and that is why many webmasters are not too concerned about it.

you did good work man, you acted with class, and you put on an intelligent presentation.

and i hope that you will continue to share your thoughts from time to time.

Cassie 02-07-2004 11:47 AM

wow i really looked forward to your posts about this and i read every tag line you entered into your signature.

this is a big disappointment and honestly, it feels like another L in the lose column.

good luck with your future venture and don't be a stranger :)

Spunky 02-07-2004 11:52 AM

Good Work Brandon.:thumbsup You did alot more than any other person getting the word out and was well appreciated.

kmanrox 02-07-2004 11:57 AM

looks to me you are simply pissed off spike didn't call you..... yes i read the whole article and realize that was just the last straw, but my interpretation is you're pissy about spike is all.... shrug... good luck with whatever you do... it seems you've lost the battle... acacia has beaten you...

hottoddy 02-07-2004 12:10 PM

I thank you for your work. Your posts were among the most informative and enjoyable here during the past half year. Hopefully, you can continue in some vein (posting here occasionally) after maybe taking a little time off.

evildick 02-07-2004 12:16 PM

I just wanted to take this time to say:

"For all intensive purposes" should be "for all intents and purposes".

Just a pet peeve of mine.

That is all.

:)

GonePhishing 02-07-2004 12:23 PM

Sorry to hear that Brandon. We all appreciate your efforts and your information. I hope to see you around in the future! Good luck with everything that you do!

RP Fade 02-07-2004 12:24 PM

I can't explain it, if don't get it.. and if you want to trivialize it as being "spike didn't call me". then so be it.. i'd have to end up explaining the definition of words like integrity and honor.

This activism has consumed so much of my time the last 7 months. I have not taken 1 cent from anyone in my efforts, and now that the court case has begun, it's up to the court and time for me to get back to generating income.

I'm continuing my activism in other areas where i can also make a difference and hopefully at the same time, make some income.

Voodoo 02-07-2004 12:56 PM

You might as well go and sign over your 2% now. Giving up is the only way to go. Acacia owns you.

This is a very sad day.

Voodoo 02-07-2004 12:56 PM

FTP, to stop before a victory is only accepting your defeat.

Sexzity 02-07-2004 12:59 PM

You will be missed.

huh? Acacia is in court with the defendants... there is no defeat here except for the use of my time... i can be effective with my time in other areas... going back to generating income in my consulting and my ventures.

The defendants will prevail... my part in this saga was to bring it to people's attention.. which i have done... i even went further to try and actually do something about it with Fight the Patent Foundation.. but there just wasn't enough support in adult biz and in mainstream.

Now that mainstream is covering the story and the judge is hearing the facts.. it's out of all of our hands except to sit back and wait for the outcome.

Thanks for all the kind words from the posters.... i'm not dead.. i am still concerned about these patent abuse issues, i just need to focus my time back on my priorities..

i don't regret stopping my consulting and my income stream for the last 7 months for this fight..... it was worth it ... that i did something about it, and for that, i will not apologize or bow down to anyone's cricitisms.

pussyluver 02-07-2004 01:32 PM

Brandon, First, what will it take for you to continue forward?

You made a difference and we all lose without your efforts. I made a pledge and it still stands.

If Fight The Patent were a paysite and that's what it took for you to continue, I'd join!!!

I know that if all sent in their pledges, the $37K wouldn't really be enough.

Your anger with Spike may fade. Perhaps, there is a reason he could not call. If you can carry on, you will not lose respect here if you pickup the ball and continue.

I ask you to leave your site up and at least give the issue what time you can. If you want to add anything to the mix that generates cash, I'd say go for it.

Thanks for your efforts and I'm sure you will have our support in your new position as CTO of ASACP along with your new venture. My sincere hope is that you'll continue to be a source of information on Patent issues!! I wish I had the ability to better express myself here.

pussyluver 02-07-2004 01:50 PM

Who will interrupt what?s going on with the case? It?s going to be a long one it seems. The implications are huge. Gathering information will now be harder and take longer.

I have had so many offer to send money, but i have respectfully declined.... I am not leaving the scene, just focusing my time. No one asked me to step into this role of activism, and i never asked to have negativity thrown at me during the 7 months. I am not looking to be a hero nor for fame, i take stands on issues that are wrong and i know there are many supporters of my efforts.

I will keep the website up and still update it, just cutting back considerably to focus back on generating income and providing a living..

i have spent so much time in talking to webmasters, posting on boards, phone calls, etc to get people informed, and i have never regretted a second of it. I have made alot of friends (and some enemies) along the way, and I am thankful to so many who have trusted me with confidential information.

we are now over the hump.. everyone knows the issues and about Acacia.. .all that is left is to wait and see....

I have never been a reporter.. i write my satirical stories to present facts within humor. Now that reporters are on the scene and writing stories, the coverage of Acacia will grow.

I am focusing my activism now in fighting against copyright infringement.. and this time, my efforts do include making money from my time... for some reason, people think that activists can exist without an income stream... all lobbyists get paid for their efforts.. the difference with me, is i haven't taken anything from anyone.

People should join the IMPA.. there shouldn't just be one lone voice trying to ring the bells for alarm...there needs to be an organization that looks out for the group..and the IMPA is the organization to do it.

So many are not card carrying members... without unity on common issues, you are left to face the business problems alone.

Spike called this morning and we had a chat. I'm fine with everything and I will continue to support IMPA.

What income stream?

Do you mean all the donations you received from people?

Paul Markham 02-07-2004 02:30 PM

Why is a person only truly appreciated when he's gone.

I've followed Brandon for months and a little more of this support then would have made it easier.

In fact some here did their utmost to bring him down and belittle his efforts, didn't you 12clicks?

Brandon, I hope you will stick around. It's just a shame this has come so late.

He did not receive a penny for his work, he actually gave up working to concentrate on this for us.

You were the voice man. I know I sure look up to you.

I always enjoyed reading your updates...

Is there anyway to contact you to get a copy of your 'prior art' page you had up at one time?

Would be a shame to loose all that time, work and info....

anyways, thanks again and good luck with your future endeavors...

Sorry to hear about your decision.

You did an incredible job and I have tons of respect for you and your efforts. Not too many people devote their time and energy into things they feel are great causes.

Now you can help fight racism and jew comments on GFY!

Best of luck with your new ventures.
