Key West?
 

Was thinking of going to Key West in April to relax and fish. Would like to do a few days of fishing before the heat of the summer kicks in. Anyone have and words on key west? Best places to stay?

I dont remember where we stayed but Key West is awesome! I had an awesome time there. 1 thing you have to do is eat at Crabby Dicks! The have the best sea food and its right in the main street.

Some of the best sport fishing in the world, and excellant scuba/snorkelling and fresh seafood. I havent been there since 92 though.

Yeah it looks to be good season for all sorts of fishing. Would not mind fishing for a few days, while wife shops. Maybe JoeE can come down and fish with me for a day.

Growing up we had a condo in Marathon and used to go 5-6 times a year. We'd head to Largo and Key West several times a trip. Lots of great seafood and good snorkling.

But we sold it in 1979 and I haven't been back since. :( I've heard it's quite the mecca for gays - you and Chris headed down there to relight the flame? :winkwink:

Jump over to the Bahamas. Grab a room at the Atlantis, let the wife do what she wants. Walk down to Chubasco charters and request either Chubasco III Or Chubasco IV, both are air conditioned. They go out of the bay and you are on the fish in ten minutes.

They will clean the fish for you and ship them home if you want, or send it to the kitchen at the Atlantis for whatever restaurant there you want so you can have it for dinner.

Or have it mounted and hang it on your wall in your office.

I have been to atlantis. In fact, ran into Sweet T in the casino there few years ago.

Overpriced. It is nice, but I am looking for something relaxing. If I went back to the Bahamas, I would stay at the yacht club next to Atlantis.

I was there in December and had a great time. Very good vibe in that city and they have some great bars to sit back and chill at.

Sloppy Joe's was my favorite one.

Just stay within walking distance to Chubasco charters... book full day trips for 2 days, they will break for lunch on a nice island and you and the wife can have a nice picnic or go for a swim. I've been on alot of chartered boats but had the best time with these guys.

have best Pizza. Hard Rock Cafe is pretty cool too!

Actually looked at going there for our honeymoon. For this trip, want something closer to town so wife can shop while I fish. I prefer to fish all alone.

Yeah it's kind of secluded a little but it's a hot place.

hotelwise the Doubletree is nice, **** i believe, stayed there last spring break, good hi speed, killer pool, away from oldtown over by the only good beach

renting a house this year for a month for $8500 (peak season)
