MSN Messenger insists I download new version, then dumps my contact list!
Tried to launch MSN Messenger but kept getting a connection error that mentioned firewalls. Restarted the PC, tried to launch it again again and got a notice about a new version available. Downloaded it, it let me log in but tells me:
"Your contact list (shown below) does not yet have anyone in it. Click Add a Contact below to start creating your list." If my contact list is stored on their server and it allowed me to connect using the account I wonder where everybody went?:( |
Man, I've been having problems with my messenger all day!:(
|
upgrades/patches always seeming to fuck shit up these days..
had similar problems with icq and battlefield 1942 :( |
Bill Gates hears your concerns and he will get right on it.
|
the inhability to operate a software and its updates isnt usually the softwares fault, its the stupidity of the user.

my trillian pro is working fine with other people on MSN... :thumbsup :thumbsup |
Completely normal. MSN messenger filters useful contacts from useless. I guess you need new friends :)
|
MSN / AOL is gay.
Get ICQ. |
Well, it's still messed up. Once consolation, at least I can still see my contacts in Trillian even though it won't connect to MSN... I can retrieve the addresses I want to keep and get them to auth me again. Luckily MSN is just a few friends and family. I still don't see how the upgrade lost the contact list since that is stored on their sever accessd by username and password.
