Candy.com VS Google

Webfather declares war on Google !

Google doesn't want you encouraging people to click the adsense ads. Its not that hard to understand, they want quality traffic.

nathan_f 02-06-2004 04:17 PM

David vs. Goliath.

Good luck with that.

Mr.Fiction 02-06-2004 04:28 PM

I wonder if Google will cancel their IPO now?

I think the changes were made. . . and they still pulled the plug.

and I'm guessing zero $ will be sent to him . . . You know the old trick : wait until your affiliates are expendable and you milked them dry and then pull the plug and tell them they violated TOS so you don't have to pay them . Right?

this is google .... looks like they found their razor

I haven't the URL to hand but the head honcho was quoted as saying there will be no IPO just yet. Apparently the market isn't quite ripe for it after all and they're going to wait a little longer.

KRL 02-06-2004 04:56 PM

What a bunch of ass clowns.

OMG their e-mails are beyond the point of absurdity.

I'd love to see what the person who wrote that looks like.

Go Rick GO!!!

slapass 02-06-2004 05:00 PM

You could just call them.

sherbert 02-06-2004 05:03 PM

You're off by several million. :)

!oi 02-06-2004 05:21 PM

Google is full of morons, they have to be relocated to scammers.com

swami 02-06-2004 05:37 PM

There is no way you can beat Google on this.
And I should know.I have made it a lifestyle of getting banned and admonished by the BIG G for all sorts of things.
Your site needs to have more content on.Its basically just a big ad for chocolate and candy.Google wants to see some decent original stuff on the site before it will run its clients ads.
What I would do is deliver a better website which markets candy and deal direct with candy suppliers.
But if you want to continue with adsense then get some substantial content together and run the adsense across the top of the pages.

Of course I am an idiot.:winkwink:

sacX 02-06-2004 05:38 PM

i'm sure google are scared.

I'm sure Rick has no interest to continue working with these jerks but losing the money he honestly earn with them for no reason?
My belief is this has nothing to do with the content and everything to do with shaving at the right time, right when they need to write the check.

CyberTraffic 02-06-2004 05:47 PM

It's like they did'nt even read your e-mails.

NetRodent 02-06-2004 05:53 PM

Atleast google is trying to protect their advertisers. Have you tried calling them?

!oi 02-06-2004 06:00 PM

Google's staff is full of shit.
Shawn Batten is a walking bullshit.
Google is going downward, I wait to see what happens to their stocks when Microsoft brings their search solutions, if tGoogle'll still be alive by that time.

PSD 02-06-2004 06:04 PM

Like many of the replies to Google AdWords inquiries, the Google AdSense replies read like bots.

nemesis 02-06-2004 06:05 PM

wow, 12clicks got a job at google already ?

Rick Latona 02-06-2004 06:09 PM

WTF? :eek2 That's just craziness. Do they even give you a phone number to call on such issues?

well obviously most of the reply is automated. The person just clicks the relevant phrases.

MrIzzz 02-06-2004 06:16 PM

damn google! google is evil

Jer 02-06-2004 06:17 PM

Rick should reply with

User-Agent: Googlebot
Disallow: /

dirtysouth 02-06-2004 06:29 PM

Can't find the artcile either but I did read they were NOT going to go public as planned.

Perhaps but I am suggesting completely automated. For example in this case, a bot could have detected certain words surrounding their ads which triggered the initial email. The initial reply automatically sends the bot back out to check if the text was removed and for whatever reason it did not detect it was removed so it sent another email. Each time it gets a reply it goes and checks again and and in turn when it does not find the publisher has complied it sends a increasingly urgent reply till eventually it gives up and assumes you do not want to comply and send an email saying your account is canceled. Seen similar pattern with Google's AdWords. This saves labor and legitimate cases can assumedly be resolved by calling them.

crockett 02-06-2004 06:41 PM

when life gives you lemons make lemon drops... turn your domain into a search engine... I'm sure with the right advertising Candy.com could be a very "sweet" and brandable name for a search engine.

I mean think of the possibilities you could have a tool bar and call it the "candy bar" :1orglaugh If I had a domain like that, that's what I'd be doing with it, why waste a nice name like that ranting about google?

12clicks 02-06-2004 07:23 PM

when CP guys trash you in a thread, is it a good thing or a bad thing?:winkwink:

PlayGirl 02-06-2004 07:37 PM

i think google has been a big disappointment to a lot of people lately

pornkitten 02-06-2004 08:31 PM

the pop up ads have got to go. candy is a cool name though

drama?
no

SEGuru 02-07-2004 03:13 PM

Always interesting to see the crazy things these engines do.

I once sent an email to Excite, and this was back when you emaied them...but never heard back.

I ended up getting accidentally cc:'d in the internal response chain...and the internal responses to my inquirys were scathing.

I "replied all" and gave them my opinion of what I thought of them and their internal thinking towards webmasters seeking valid information on dealing with them appropriately and within TOS. Seeking proper information even, and got ripped a new one.

I received an apology for the mistake.

Brad Xtremepay 02-07-2004 03:19 PM

Nothing drives me more up the wall than these BS pre-written statements.
They didn't even read what he was saying.
