How big is the adult internet industry?

Seen any new numbers lately?

I heard $800 million like in 1996.

Do we even grow or is it just... get out when you can?

http://www.forbes.com/2001/05/25/0524porn.html

A Forbes article from 2001. Lots of different numbers in there. Everything from $750 million to $14 billion.

And then there's this...

The Business Of Smut: What Is It Worth?
Adult Video: $500 million to $1.8 billion
Internet: $1 billion
Pay-Per-View: $128 million
Magazines: $1 billion
Total: $2.6 billion to $3.9 billion
Sources: Adams Media Research, Forrester Research, Veronis Suhler Communications Industry Report, IVD

$10 billion according to ABC News. Great that they wrote that the article is from Jan. 28, but what year?

TheDoc 02-06-2004 03:53 AM

I still think it's 10 billion +

Their are so many adult companies that don't use the main processors, ones in germany, etc that make more than any US company.

We only see a piss ass amount of what is really on the net. Jap sites alone control a major market. Even US companies people never see or hear off that make millions and millions.

Nobody counts these guys, spammers, scammers, real sites, newsgroups, yahoo, live personal video chat sites, etc..

So out of 10 billion a year online...
That is (about) 27.5 million a day, probably around 900,000 sign-ups a day from sex shops, sites, live cams, auction sites, the list is fucking huge.

Figure at least 100,000 adult sites that take cc/checks and any other payment option, online that have to do an average of 9 sign-ups a day each.

Wow is that math right at 3am? Well whatever. It's not really that much money if you break it down like that.
