Warnning: Baby With Two Heads - Very Gross

Man.

this caught me off guard looking at the news today.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/...ion-usat_x.htm

"A team of doctors from the USA and the Dominican Republic are scheduled to perform lifesaving surgery this Friday on a 2-month-old baby girl with an extremely rare condition ? a parasitic undeveloped conjoined twin growing on the crown of her head."

mule 02-05-2004 12:07 PM

She could give serious head when she grows up

LadyMischief 02-05-2004 12:08 PM

A friend of mine had a big lump on the side of her torso from the time she was born.. they always figured it was some kind of anomoly but didn't see a reason to remove it. When we were in grade 11 it started to really bother her and grow some, so they decided to remove it. When they did they found partially formed fingers, eyes, and a few other body parts growing under the skin.. Apparently it was a twin she had absorbed in the uterus that parts of it's body started to grow parasitically inside her. Fucking freaky shit.

TaylorM 02-05-2004 12:08 PM

Oh my, I feel so lucky today. That poor little baby.

They said on the CNN website that the other brain does have measured brain activity. That would really suck if it was alert and alive and no one cared about it, and soon it's going to die. :(

She always was healthy.. apparently it was just under the layer of fat but not interfering with her internal organs.. sort of in a little bubble of it's own on the side of her body. They thought it might be a cancerous tumor though because it hurt. I can imagine the doctor's surprise. She's got one hell of a scar now though.

Yeah..the thing that really sucks is they both can't live, in a situation like that.. the head on it's own can't live without a body, and the head with the body can't live if her brain is crushed. I can't imagine what the parents are going through.
