What do you think would be a good Promo Item to get ?

Something that is not in the usual vein of rubber tits and pens that glow ? Something functional for everyday use? One of the best things that I have gotten in the last couple of shows were Towels embroidered with the firms name. We have recently started with these http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/hat3.JPG
also have a couple of other ideas that we are working on. Just wanted to see if anyone had any different ideas in what they would like to see.

I've used a really good company in NY/FL to print some things for a few mainstream projects I'm working on.

www.PSIPromos.com - they have tons of different products...

If I got a hat like that I would toss it out. Not everybody wears thise types of hats - but everybody wears shirts.

chowda 02-05-2004 10:48 AM

baseball caps are good, the pornkings hat was awesome.

I guess that is why you are NOT getting one :1orglaugh These are not mass handout items. I have Tshirts, Stacks of them about 5 years worth, that I havent worn yet. Lot of the companies are out of the business already. That is why, while T shits are on my list, they are not a priority.

m00d 02-05-2004 10:50 AM

These tshirts suck. I can't wear them in public.

lol, ok - fair 'nuff. But you did ask for "Something functional for everyday use". Those type of hats do me little good here in San Diego - maybe if I lived in someplace cold. I was not trying to say they are ugly or whatever, just that those do me no good, and a shirt is functional and can be used often.

But if you are looking for something other than a shirt (though you did not say it) I would say a bottle opener - you know all the peep here drink like fish.

I did say however, something that is NOT in the usual vein, T shirts are , but a bottle opener is a good idea, something for everyday use :winkwink:

mouse pad with nice gel wrist rest. A guy had them one year and they flew off the shelf. Plenty of room to print your message, too.

a dry erase board for my monitor.
electric coffee cup warmer.

My Host had these cool mini Swiss Army knives at the show. They are keychains and real knives with tooth picks, tweasers, scissors etc.... I thought they were cool. Actually I have one right here on my desk:) You just need to remember to put them in your checked luggage and not carry on any ailplanes..hehehe

PreciousB 02-05-2004 06:48 PM

how about day planners with the company name on them?
or 16 month calenders with content models and the company logo?

the bottle opener thing was good and so was the mouse pad thing.

I think t-shirts are basically conventional in this biz and everybody has t-shirts with the company logo on them.

What kind of budget are you talkin' about, JFK? Looking to stay at a certain cost-per-item, or got a budget in mind?
<br>

digifan 02-05-2004 07:51 PM

A few ideas

Amazon.com e-certificates or other gift cards
dvds
pc games
desktop accessories e.g. speakers, mouse pad etc.

just my :2 cents:

It all depends on the item, I am just fishing for ideas at this point. I am sure that most people will not remember the actual firm that has given them the object. It has to be something special in my mind , if I give something , when the person picks it up or uses it, I want them to relate to F.U.B.A.R.

undermyspell 02-05-2004 08:32 PM

hey JFK... why not do some disposable cameras with your logo printed on them and your url... make an area on your site where people can upload the pics after they take them and have them developed...

important branding factors involved with this item..

1. unique.. never seen it done
2. has your name and url on it
3. gets people to your site to upload the pics they took
4. gives you additional content on your site for other webmasters to look at that you may have somehow overlooked *although you don't miss much*

if you like that idea contact me for more.. or anyone else that needs some ideas.. i've got a side project in the works involving conventions and brandables....

Best ones I ever received:

Telephone\modem wire retractors for your laptop. It automatically rolls up the wire. I still have one from eight years ago.

A hotspot/WiFi finder. You can probably buy them in bulk for $10.

I did look at the camera angle, but the Quality of those things SUCK. I do have calendars etc that I get from other places, but after a while you dont look at the logo of the firm that gave it to you. This is why I was asking earlier, do you remember who gave you the item ? Thanks for your response:thumbsup

A buddy of mine does an improved/modernized version of the old ViewMaster thingies you used to get as a kid -- but has a much better 3-D imaging technology they're using now. The unit cost would be pretty wicked-high I'm sure, but he's trying to market them as promotional items, so I assume he's willing to work on pricing to get volume... hit me up if you're interested, brudda...

PSWBilling gave me the most awesome mousepad I've ever had - hard lexan. It won't wear out, period, works great with any type of mouse (even digital), your mouse glides across it like silk, and if you spill something you just wipe it off rather than having to toss it in the washer.
Your company name is always in front of the person using it and it's a great tool.

I have a little calendar from FetishBrokers hanging right off of my monitor as well (little sticky tape came included) and a big flat magnet on my fridge (from another site) that I use constantly.
Gotta be careful though about what you put on them - lots of folks (like me) work from home where kids/family/friends could see it. No hardcore pics on 'em.

Carrie the mouse pad option is one thing that I am considering for mass handouts. Thanks

I was just flipping through skymall on United this morning and came across TigerDirect. They have some items like modem cable and even cat 5 retractors. Also, those 128mb USB data storage key rings. You can probably find the manufacturer and get it alot cheaper. Even in skymall the usb memory keyring is $39, and the retractors are $14. And skymall is ridiculous with pricing.

The USB data storage keyring is really cool. I use mine now instead of CDS to swap MP3s.
