Adult Biz Do's & Don'ts

I felt it was about time to start up an adult business do's and don'ts thread. Might be some good help for the newb's.

Do's:

Buy legal content, ensure you get age verification and a solid webmaster license agreement.

Do design your ownwebsite or hire a designer to design your own website, don't steal graphics form other websites.

Do go with sponsors who provide lots of excellent free promo content which will help you to fill the cracks in your need for content monthly as well as make some pocket change in return from a good affiliate program.

When you need serious help just ask other webmasters, many will be willing to help you make the right decision.

Don'ts:

Do not steal content from content providers websites or other adult webmasters sites to fill your site with.

Be careful of starting up celeb sites unless you got alot of money in the bank and a killer attorney.

Do not mislead surfers coming to your site by tellign them they get this and that and you don't really have offer it, this is the #1 reason for chargebacks.

Anyone else want to add more to this thread? Post it and it shall be read!!!!

Don't enter this business thinking your going to make a million in a month. Like everything else it takes hardwork and creativity.

Do set goals

Space Puppy 02-05-2004 03:20 AM

Dont pay any attention to this asshat.

Do research of your own, just because someone tells you their way doesnt mean it is the right way for you.

It's only advice, but I knew before I posted this thread that there would be at least person who would ruin it and have something negative to say...Congrats!!!

Theo 02-05-2004 03:28 AM

let me put my :2 cents: as well

Do's:

Steal content from content providers websites or other adult webmasters sites to fill your site with.

Start up celeb sites.

Mislead surfers coming to your site by tellign them they get this and that and you don't really have offer it, don't worry for chargebacks.

Don'ts:

Don't buy legal content, ensure you get age verification and a solid webmaster license agreement.

Don't hire a cheap ass designer, prefer to steal graphics from other websites.

Fuck sponsors who provide lots of excellent free promo content which will help you to fill the cracks in your need for content monthly as well as make some pocket change in return from a good affiliate program.

Don't ask other webmasters.

I wonder how many paysite owners/operators on this board have ever done the stuff you see on the "don't" side of the list. :1orglaugh

Do what makes money.

Don't do what doesn't make money.

Sounds simple but most people ignore this basic rule.

My guess:

asshat: noun, someone who puts an ass on his hat (or the other way around). See also butthat and bottomhat.

I think Sleazy says this all the time, but anyways:

Work smarter, not harder.

taboo_gal 02-05-2004 09:20 AM

Don't dog people for posting what they (and others) may feel is helpful or productive.

Don't air your dirty laundry on the boards without first attempting to clear the matter up with the person with whom you have the issue.

Do listen to others advice, but nothing says you must follow it.

Research and do what works for you.

Don't try to be somone or something that you're not.

Once you become successful, don't become a pretentious asshole and treat everyone with a bank balance lower than 10K or post count lower than 1k like they are gum on your shoe. There are those that are here today and gone tomorrow, but is there honestly a necessity to treat them like dirt? I don't think so.

Thats an interesting thread!

Don't trust anyone before you are 100% sure you can :thumbsup

Do your best to make good connections, not just people with big mouths.... (choose your friends wisely, and defend them if they need your help on a forum)

Do think of 'the next big thing' or at least be keen enough to identify someone else who has the next big thing and be the second one on their coattails....

Don't blow up the ICQ of us vets with stupid questions... An occasional Hello, how are you is ok... ask how biz is, and maybe they'll spill some insight into a big money maker..... this also gives you a chance to tell him/her what your skillset/assets are so in the future he'll contact you if he thinks you can work together on something...

Don't be annoying, anywhere in this business world.

Do know anyone you do big business with, or have at least met them in person and looked into their eyes.... this way you will be able to hopefully see if they are full of it, or str8 shooters...

'Show me your friends, I'll tell you what you are'... Mom told me Jesus said that... shrug...

I've said too much, I'll stop now...

Do

Get eveything in writing

Videotape models signing model releases and 2257's & disclaimer before shooting.

ask sucessful webmasters advice & shut up when they answer

Think of an original exciting idea and develop that idea

Spend most of your day concentrating/working on making money not sitting on GFY.

Get 2 lawyers - one for keeping you outta trouble, the other for suing fucktards who steal your shit/breach contracts.

update alot & get to know your members/traffic

Don't

DON'T DATE models unless you plan on marrying her & getting her/him.

DON'T TRUST MODELS NEAR YOUR VALUABLE SHIT!!! Lock model releases/passwords in your safe.

DON'T GET TOO TIRED AND FORGET YOU GOT PAID IN VEGAS AND PISS OFF YOUR FRIENDS!!!

My best advice: These people here don't mean shit to you or your business. Make good contacts and friends with your sponsors. Nobody else means shit to you. I've learned this after being in the biz since 97. ;)

Excellent advice!!! Nicely put and if more people took head of this advice there would probally not be so many assholes on message boards who like to slam new people, they forget that they were sucking ass and hanging on coat tails when they started to, but then of course alot of them reach that $10K or 1K posts and forget everyone who helped them get there and are too snotty to return the favor to a newb. Oh well, tis the ways of this fucked up world:)

Excellent photographers advice, I learned the same over years, not the dating thing because I would not do that being happily married, but the lock everything up or models will rob you blind. I had one model that stole 9 brand new packages of stockings and pantyhose we had on hand for models to use in shoots, now thats fucking low, we buy cheap .99 pantyhose because the girls rip them and tear them during shoots, and this model had the balls to steal them, thats pretty low, I also had 1 shoot in the 7 years I have been doing this that the model release ended up disappearing when she left the studio, so I had to trash the images:(

Anyway, great advice POV!!! :thumbsup
