Anyone ever see the movie 'Kids' by Larry Clark?

I can't believe I'd never seen it before, just saw it recently, and it was really interesting.. it's impossible to stop once you start watching it.

JensMoviePost 02-04-2004 06:40 PM

I've seen it.
I only really remember the 2 girls kissing and scene where the guy beats the person with a skateboard.

bhutocracy 02-04-2004 06:42 PM

yeah.. good movie... left me with a bad feeling though.

Mr.Fiction 02-04-2004 06:43 PM

Watch Ken Park.

I felt really upset after watching it. The way they beat the shit out of the kid with the skate board then that poor girl getting HIV....It really is not a feel good movie.

If you havent seen it, then get your ass to a dvd store and pick it
up, it takes place in the city, perfect flick of a kid growing up in
NYC.

yeah.. it's like "happiness"... you need to rent some nutrasweet hollywood pap like "you've got mail" to watch afterwards so it doesn't put you on a downer for several hours lol. but seriously thats the thing i remember most.. is how bad i felt afterwards... maybe i was stoned or something when i watched it..

AphEX 02-04-2004 06:56 PM

thats an awesome movie
you have to watch BULLY, its from the same director

GonePhishing 02-04-2004 06:56 PM

That movie and Gummo were both very very disturbing. I remember the "I got no legs," guy and the dude Casper who I think actually killed himself (in real life).

nathan_f 02-04-2004 06:57 PM

Amazing movie.

I suggest if you like it, watch the movie 'Gummo'

it was banned here because of the "underage sex"... there was a huge uproar about the ban with civil disobedience and public showings that got raided by the cops.

suesheboy 02-04-2004 07:32 PM

Very scarey but very well done

The I got no legs guy was cool. He had a button that said Kiss Me, I'm Polish.

And the dude who played Casper did indeed kill himself.

myjah 02-04-2004 07:44 PM

saw it awhile back...really makes you think before you have sex. you just never know

tayloryum 02-04-2004 07:47 PM

i heard the one guy in "kids", the one who raped chloe svengy at the end, died of an overdose a few years after the movie was filmed.

the soundtrack was good too, i used to listen to it a lot when the movie came out.

he hung himself in a vegas hotel room in 2000.

I loved "Kids", "Bully" and "Gummo" but didn't care for "Ken Park" for all the controversy, there wasn't much beyond what was there to cause the contrversy...no deeper themes or overtones....just Larry Clark trying to get his real life girlfriend naked and having explicit sex...

Sarah_Jayne 02-04-2004 07:58 PM

it was the first nc-17 movie i ever went to when I had only just turned 18. It was well made but I remember that my friend and I got really ticked off by the kids in the cinema (shouldn't have been in there.about 16/17ish) laughing at all the stuff you were suppose to feel was horrible. Left with very little hope for society. I saw it again when my hubby wanted to watch it on tv years later and he said at the end that it was good but he never wants to see it again.

Saw Kids a few months after it came out definitely need to check out Bully, Gummo, and Ken park.

Anyone else have any reviews on Ken Park or Gummo? Bully seems good though.

"Gummo" is one of those movies people really love or really hate...it's very artsy fartsy and not really so much a coherent plotline type movie as more an assortment of vignettes about a small town's struggles in the aftermath of a tornnado that devastates the area....fucking intense movie, but not for everyone...

I'm in the love camp, my wife is in the "hate it with every fiber of my body" camp ;-)

to tell you the truth the main reason i haven't seen it yet is i know it won't go down well as a sit with the girlfriend and watch movie as well as not feeling like a kids type depression on the given days i've seen it on the shelf. But i still want to see it.

Babagirls 02-04-2004 11:16 PM

that movie got me and my friends (and the rest of my school) into drugs :helpme
