What're you guys paying per gig of transfer?
What's a good rate?
|
I pay per mbit
|
You can pay as low as $00.26/gig with jupiter hosting. I pay a bit more because I'm on a smaller plan, but you shouldn't be paying more that $00.75/gig...if you are...let me sort you out.

Step Two: Pony up $120 a month for a dedicated box at jupiter, you won't have to lug it around when you travel, we'll keep it in our ultra fine facility for you. That'll get you a super slick server with 300gigs of transfer its about $00.60/gig . Don't sweat the overages they'll never be more than $00.60 per gig. And when you want to grow into a bigger plan, your cost per gig will actually go down. Step Three: Keep getting listed at the hun. |

The Hun is just a shock cause you don't get warning beforehand. What I'm concerned with is I have bigger animation projects and the file sizes are big. I wanna plan ahead of time. |

a listing on the Hun not even a gig for a day??? |

Soon as I go over more of the data I think I've found a new way by sheer dumb ass luck to maximize this kind of traffic rush. |

I'm gonna chill out and make sure I do things right. |

|
I'll be listed on the hun soon just got my confirmation of acceptance. I'll let you know total bw for the three days. not including extrenuous traffic. ie gallery hunters and secondary linkage.

phatservers all the way
i dont work there, but they are in my sig, coz everyone needs to get phat. they earned that spot. and if your pushing large B/W email them sometimes they have a sweet deal that isnt published.. oh yeah tell them hyper recommended them. see if it gets you a lil sumtin sumtin |
Its always higher on a shared server... if you have a dedicated box you can get down there pretty damn cheap. But there is more to conisder than just the cost of the bandwidth. You can get some really cheap bandwidth in some real ratholes, but you'll be up and down more than a two dollar whore on a Friday night.
Its a balance. Cheap bandwidth is worthless if the NOC the box is sitting in is run by idiots and you are always down. On the other hand, you don't want to bend over and take it up the ass. Right now, I am at about $0.40 per GB on my leased dedicated, but I pay more for a managed box, daily backups and some other services. I could get it cheaper but the people are good to me and the support is always right there. |
About $3.50/gig
Before you all start spamming me you can give me better rates, I'm not interested. I'm paying through the roof for my bandwidth for a couple reasons, first and foremost, top notch managed hosting. Second, 99.99% uptime guarantee, I can't afford even an hour of downtime, especially during a Google crawl. Last and foremost, I don't want a host who is tied to the adult industry, call it a conflict of interest, but I don't need people browsing through my backend to figure out how I get my SE traffic. With that said, I don't even come close to my provider's lowest tier. WG |

Keep in mind that there are almost a dozen different ways to measure bandwidth usage. Many of the hosts with really low prices use questionable techniques so while it appears you are paying less, you are actually paying more.
1000 x 0.40 is more than 600 x 0.6. You are getting screwed and you don't know about it ... synergysex, what do you mean by "do it yourself." Surely you don't mind having a server on a line and location not suitable for one. |
