wow..now I see why so many of you get so much spam
 

So many people I do business with complain about getting 50+ emails a day of spam.....and i'm usually like "wtf....where are you submitting your email address???"



well i opened up neomail on one of my severs today to find...for this month.....

41 - 60 of 2374 messages (2374 unread) - 19 MB



all spam. some good domain crawlers goin around huh?




I use an aol address for most of my email and although I give out a business one on a few domains....I always prefer the aol one even though I despise its "newbieness".


I've used spam blockers etc on some of mine, but still, for most email, i just tell people to hit my aol name, at least they will know where to get me online AND have an address where i will actually read most of the email.

i set up rules in outlook. most of the spam going to my domains are a address i dont use. like [email protected] will get spam but i dont even use the address. i just filter it with outlook right to deleted folder.

it seems they eventually find all the domains. i get random spams on domains i've never submitted email addresses anywhere.

if they can't scrounge up email addresses, they start _making_ them up.

i also use mailwasher sometimes.... like when i havent checked my email in a while. it works really good.

it's just unbelievable though, that server in question has aprx 300 domains and got 2500 spams in ..... 3 days



and no domains on that server have any real traffic or links!

He'll just get all the biggest ISP's i the world to charge for emails, probably do it like that you can send something like 50.000 emails for free per month, and maybe you can send proven optin lists for free. That way spammers can't use a program to generate 100.000.000 emails a week, and then send out quieries to verify them, and send them out since it would cost them a shitload...

i get over 2500+ emails a day of spam... granted i own 300+ domains and have *@allthedomains.com forward to my inbox.... shrug...

Most of my spam came from the whois dbase.
It still does - that is a fucking fact.

My recent upgrades to the whois dbase is NOT for Network Solutions but to terminate spam.

either way about 800 a day is alot for the domains that server hosts....whois lookup is king i guess

There's always going to be a way past Filters, even that

Use 1:2000 accounts, Send 50 mails, Use a different account


Oh yeah, And if any of you are wondering

Only 1:20 of my mails get picked up by AOL's filters ;)
