lightning pictues I took the other night.
 

caught the ass end of that storm that fucked up brisbane and the goldcoast.

first time i've caught lightning repetitively without using long exposures.. i got these three within about 5 minutes using normal exposure times, it's a pity because i missed 95% of the storm and the very best arcing-across-the-sky lightning shots cause i was at the gym. the top shot was the last "exposed" lightning of the storm.. i literally missed the good shit. still impressed by the end though.. it's not often you can click away and catch it so easily.. it's a testament to how much lightning was being thrown around.

Damn thats very cool! I always love a good lightning storm.

The only thing I miss about living in the desert is the incredible lightning shows during the late summer (not that you're in the desert, with that bay there). Chain lightning is an awe-inspiring thing to see.

There was something last night. I think it was just a lot of wind. I live near an OC beach and the wind and rain went on for some time last night.

We may only get 1 lightning storm every couple of years here in Vancouver :(

Isn't that the truth... Usually in the late summer, and very rare.

I remember in the summer of 2000 we spent about 3 hours riding around in my Jeep with the top down at night watching the lightening... storm seemed to be blowing east so we started following it on the highway, tons of fun :)

Where I live the storms come to ME :) It's just a case of grabbing the camera. When I took these pics I just went to a park 100m from my house where a few other people were watching the "show" and snapped away. Couldn't find my tripod which is why the third one's blurry. That park is a good place because theres no disturbance to the view over the river, but there is a better lookout on the other side of the bridge which looks out to sea which is also good but has no shelter. It's summer here so it's hot and muggy which gives us all the storms.
Pisses me off because im watching all this awesome lightning as I ride back from the gym (really slowly after an hour of working out) and the camera's at home.. would have got some geat shots if i wasn't on a fitness kick.
