Need an AVI codec - Video people

Anyone know a good AVI codec. Im storing , editing video.

So, Divx will not work - and the DV codecs are great but the file size is too big - anyone know a codec with good compression/quailty ? One that will also be editable unlike divx?

:helpme

as helix suggested, huffyyuv is excellent but that i dont think is what you are looking for, that is a lossless avi wrapper to the best of my knowledge (huge file size ... correct me if i am wrong please because i wouldnt mind archiving at lower sizes with huffyyuv)

And - yes you can edit using a high quality divx file as a source, it depends on what program you are using ... i will email my brother because he has edited out using high res divx - ill email him this thread ... i only work in premeire with huffy, but my bro knows more about using a high res (low file size) divx as a source...

For any mpeg-4 codec, editing will be dependent on key frames.

You really end up with two realms, editing and compressing.

We edit Huffy in premiere and then compress to DivX. When doing quick editing we will cut by keyframe in an encoded file.
