I do not accept registered mail

It is usually bad news.

AndrewKanuck 02-02-2004 08:49 PM

I guess the money order I sent you will be bouncing back then...

That sounds like an unfortunate life planning method. Duck and hide rather than face the music.

fuzebox 02-02-2004 08:51 PM

Sounds like someone got a driving suspension :)

Brad Xtremepay 02-02-2004 09:18 PM

Nah, I just got this random registered letter out of nowhere. I would rather they send it regular mail.

JunkyardDog 02-02-2004 09:22 PM

Its the truth though. Not often is registered mail good news.

SureFire 02-02-2004 09:31 PM

so you sent it back? hopefully it isnt a form of acceptance..by refusing the letter you acknowledge its existence or some crap

Spunky 02-02-2004 09:36 PM

I get new credit cards that way.

KRL 02-02-2004 09:37 PM

I get lawsuit settlements that way. Suing people is a profitable business. :Graucho

Impossible. The point of registered mail is to prove you've received notification of some sort.

frankfortuna 02-02-2004 09:43 PM

I received one at the office today which seemed a bit unusual. It turned out to be a viagra sample from a supplier.

Volantt 02-02-2004 10:52 PM

Might be a C&D letter. You should usually accept those since they are more then likely not going to go away after paying $10 or so to send it.

Can't claim ignorance to the laws.

:2 cents:

Not quite right. The point of registered mail is to prove that the sender actually mailed out the notice. Most documents have legal force once they are sent via registered mail. Whether you accept it or not has no bearing on it.

You don't gain anything by refusing registered mail.

What you are thinking about is called "certified mail"; that proves that your actually received the mail. But, that's rarely used.

Say, for example, you get a registered letter from your insurance company cancelling your car insurance. Even if you refuse it, your insurance will be cancelled.
