Does CBS need a model release?

They showed a tit. Don't they have to have a model release now? I wonder if this particular staged event was in response to the FCC stuff this past week.

I think it's more likely to try to rival the Madonna / Britney kiss. Though can't be sure.

Cheers,
Matt

Since when is a model release a legal requirement for pictures of a tit?

i'm on the fence about this one. it's quite possible that in the eyes of the law, they were a few people short of what's considered a "public gathering".

wonder if she's gonna get a public indecency ticket :winkwink:

American right wingers are fucked up.

Being lied to about war is no problem, but show part of a boob on TV and it's time for a witch hunt.

The FCC will probably spend more time and money "investigating" this than the government will spend investigating Bush's lies about Iraq.

Uh... CBS has full rights to the Super Bowl event and all of it's participants - signed & legal when they planned it a year ago. The question is, does everyone else who is starting sites on the pics & video have the rights? I don't think so.

Whether she showed a tit or not a contract is needed for a gig like that. I'm pretty sure that MTV hired her so I would guess they would have the contract.

Unless they were there and took the pictures themselves or bought from a photographer that was there I'd have to agree with you.

Peter Romero 02-02-2004 06:20 PM

Yes. And, I'll have to agree with you agreeing with me... don't you agree?

BV 02-02-2004 06:21 PM

agreed :)

No wonder they went after Bill for a sloppy BJ ...

Oh man are you right! America has some fucked up values. Show a slasher cutting up a girls tits in a horror movie and it's PG-13 entertainment. Show her boyfriend kissing or carressing those same breasts and them (god forbid) having fun/pleasure... and it's obscene!

Fucked up!

"...Over-the-air TV channels cannot air "obscene" material at any time and cannot air "indecent" material between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. The FCC defines obscene as describing sexual conduct "in a patently offensive way" and lacking "serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value." Indecent material is not as offensive but still contains references to sex or excretions.

The FCC has come under fire from lawmakers and outside groups who say the agency hasn't done enough to shield the public from indecent programming. The Bush administration has endorsed a bill raising the $27,500 maximum fine to $275,000...."

F-up! I agreed.

Rochard 02-02-2004 07:11 PM

No, CBS doesn't need a model release. I would imagine that CBS paid MTV to produce the content, and I don't believe the television world has "model releases". Instead, they have contracts.
