how to TAME your 404 traffic esp if you have a shitload of domains..
Here is what i do to TAME my 404..........
Send all 404 to one centralized domain such as .... meow.com/404.html OK now all your 404 is flowing to that centralized page now lets say one day you want to use your 404 to feed a new project instead of going to every htaccess in every domain you just go to the centralized one and 1,2,3 wallaaaaaaaaaaaaa Seems obvious but might help out afew nOObs in here |
wtf? :1orglaugh
Those noobs who can't do that probebly got no idea what htaccess is. |

use one .htaccess below the domain root in the users folder will control all the domains in that folder.
/usr/home/user1/.htaccess |

But if you have domains spread across multiple hosts and servers that wont really help |
I'm using a whole range of domains for my 404 purposes.
I've got a bunch of servers, every sever has one single domain that recieves every 404 hit from that specific server, this way i can track all my 404 hits per server. The only thing that the domain does is redirect to a central uberdomain, wich gives me a total figure of all 404's i'm recieving, and from there all the 404 gets redirected to whatever i want. Kinda neat if you ask me :Graucho |
I had some traffic from your 404 page showing up in my stats yesterday. Thanks!
