Looking for a nice, affordable digital camera

Any ones you recommend? Just for personal use, nothing professional.

I was thinking about getting the Canon EOS 300D or 10D, but since I know next to nothing about photography I don't know if would know what to do with them.

With the money you make I'd just buy the top of the line.

Then I don't get it. People have said before that I lack a sense of humour though, so it might just be me.

That one looks pretty nice, but I'm not sure if it will deliver enough quality for my purposes.
I'll mainly be using it for studies of objects and such, so I need a fair amount of detail and quality.

I will recomment the fujifinepix s7000 top camera around $500 6 megapixel with 6x optical zoom a total bargin 1 step under an SLR go for it.

RRACY 01-31-2004 07:21 PM

$1500 would be overkill unless you make a living with the camera. I would stick with brand names like canon, nikon and olympus. 5-$700 would be adequate for most peoples needs.

I got my wife the Minolta DiMAGE S414 camera (about ($349) and a Canon S9000 photo printer (about $200) for Christmas. The pics that come off of that printer as almost as good as the ones we get with our good Minolta 35 mm that we have, and when I say "almost as good", I mean, it's extremely difficult to even tell the difference.

When I looked for online opinions of cameras in the price range I wanted to spend (less than $500) the Minolta won out. The only knock I read against it was battery life, but I have not found that to be the case with ours. I bought 8 nickel-metal-hydride batteries and a charger, and although we've probably taken about 100 pics, we're still on the first four batteries.

Currently in doubt between the Fuji S7000, the Canon EOS 300D and the Canon Powershot G5. Anyone got opinions on the differences?

I was just gonna suggest the Canon powershot G5. $519 at B&H. It's 5 megapixels and has a hot shoe to put on your own flash if you wish. It kinda looks like an SLR:Graucho Good Luck!
