How do you feel about me spidering your gallery?
 

not me personally, im referring to thumb preview sites like THIS ONE

this particular site takes submissions and i guess requires a thumb which will be used on his site.

but there are tons of other sites that dont take submissions, all they do is spider other sites and link to the galleries,s ometimes even taking the thumbs as well.

If it was your gallery that was taken, are you mad that the site is sending hits to your gallery? Or that he is using your thumb? Or happy that you are getting some extra hits from a site you never submitted to?

If it is your site that got spidered, are you mad that you did all the work to review these quality galleries and now someone else is listing them? Or are you happy your submitters are getting some extra hits? Or just generally dont care either way?


ive heard many opinions on this and still not sure how i feel, just wanted to see how the majority of you guys feels about it.

jellywrestling gets spidered we dont care they still gotta join see more.

If i didnt submit to a site but it lists me and i dont like i simply redirect it. This is 90% japanese sites tho. But normally i dont see a problem with it.

not a stupid question. Ive seen many people complaining about exactly that!

they say its because the site that did the spidering is sending shitty hits and using up good bandwidth, and if they wanted hits they would have submitted to them, etc.

i hear it all the time.

personally i wouldnt complain, was only asking.

wait till they spider multiple mpeg galleries and dump a shitload of traffic your sponsor doesnt pay you for.

bandwidth + no sales = your spidered gallery.

although many spiders do send traffic as good as the place they got it from, some dont though. some send total crap traffic.

ive been planning on opening a thumb prev site, but i have never accepted submissions on ANY of my tgps, i always hardlinked to my own or hosted galleries, or just made the site CJ

naturally im not gonna go and but 400 new sets of content and sit and make thumbs to start the site off, so i was considering spidering.

only problem is, i remember how pissed people sounded when this happened to them, and i didnt want to piss anyone off.

so now i can either do it anyway and not worry about other people, or i can make thumbs from hosted gallery pics, or i can forget the entire idea lol

oh well, not enough feedback here to make judgement yet, so im gonna hold off for now.

Have you considered asking people here to help you get jump started?

I have had a good number of galleries show up on sites I never submitted to and I didn't mind at all, I got unexpected sales from them.

lately it seams like the only thing these guys would help me with is tieing the noose, or pulling the trigger lol
