Question about life...

If I ever heard of a stoner question, this would be it, but this freaks me out sometimes and I was just curious what other people's thoughts were on it.

If religion and god is real, what is above god? How can everything we experience come from nothing? A big bang? If a big bang happened, where did the materials for this big bang come from? No, we won't figure it out here, but I find it interesting to just ponder and wonder what the fuck is going on. I just kind of sit around and look at all my belongings and just think, where the fuck did all this come from? Rocks? It's crazy...

Think we will ever know? I've heard from some math geniuous freaks that they will some day solve the meaning of life with math, bullshit?

Do you think when we die, everything will just be understood? Thats if you believe we go somewhere after death.

If an object is an animal, it cannot be a planet.

You can enter the world of fantasy if you cross the bridge of reality.

This thread is for pot heads and drunks, not crack addicts.

after taking physics and chemistry in college, many questions were revealed to me

yes, everything in front of you is made of the fundemental elements fo the periodic chart

there are facts explaining how wind is formed, rain, volcanos and such

we live in such a beautiful and perfect world, we are truly lucky to be here

The world may be perfect, nature may be perfect, but man is not.

I've often thought that humans were an afterthought to this planet.

Who says there was a beginning? Hasn?t the universe always existed? Think of a circle, no beginning, no end.

The answer was very clear the last time I tripped.

You sat around and looked at all your belongings... including your rocks and wondered where they came from? =D sounds like you got a quarry in your room.

to respond seriously to your post though, the mystery of the nothing to something logic problem will never be solved. It's very scary to think about, as you said, where did all this stuff come from.

we're talking about a bagillion jazillion tons of matter throughout the universe spread over what seems (but probably isnt) an infinite about of space.

and, when atoms interact, it happens in a very methodical organized way, this organization had to have been created somehow right? when you think about life, in general and the amazingly complex processes that are required to sustain it from reproduction to everyday hair growth... it makes you wonder what the fuck is going on.

When I get riddled with everyday petty life, or something happensto me, I usually like to dwell on this concept to allow myself to put things in place. When you think about it, there's a lot there outside of us that's so amazing and crazy... it helps putting little things in perspective.

every single circle you ever saw in your entire life had a creator.

haha a great adaptation.

for those that don't know it goes "if god is all powerful and all knowing why can't he create a rock so heavy that he can't lift it?"

it's a logicl fallacy but fun none the less.

galleryseek 01-31-2004 02:28 AM

a scenario that could explain this is that our universe and everything we know, is a project from an alien existance where the fundamentals of their universe are totally different than the idea we have of ours.

bhutocracy 01-31-2004 02:29 AM

personally I find the search "for the meaning of life" fucking retarded, and I don't know why string theory or any kind of advanced maths is going to solve something thinking monkeys think is important because they're not evolved enough to move beyond needing reasons.

man IS perfect. With all of our flaws and imperfections, we are still, perfect. We are what we are. Stop fighting it. You'll be less miserable. Try reading some zen for a change.

KRL 01-31-2004 02:33 AM

There are some things in life beyond human comprehension and not meant to be precisely understood. God is one. Life after death is another. The Universe is another.

In regards to our things. I often think the same. Look at all the stuff we have and come to the realization that all we had in the beginning was rocks, piles of dirt, trees and water.

The other thing that totally blows my mind is looking at everything we've built in the US and think 300 years ago none of it was here. To think we built all this infrastructure in such a short period of time is amazing.
