Verotel chargeback INSANITY!

This is fucking insane. Totally insane.

I just got off of the LIVE CHAT help on Verotel's website. When I asked the guy why I hadn't received a check in over a month he tells me that there's been no payment due me, because I "owe Verotel money."

When ask what him what in the hell he was talking about he said, that one of my weekly invoices showed close to $500.00 in chargebacks with $350.00 in fees to the bank -- thus I owe Verotel $850.00.

What I don't get is: How could there be close to $500.00 in chargebacks IN ONE WEEK. That's like 16 people, all in one week, deciding to call their phone company and challenge the 1 900 charge. The only service I use Verotel for.

I've been with them for over a year, and never, ever had bullshit like this go down

Has anyone else had similar problems?

:feels-hot

As soon as I saw all these check credits show up in my email I quickly removed the check option, debit option and the 900 option..
I heard smiliar crap about 900 and debit, Im still getting a few back here and there...

Use them for cc's only...i havent had a chargeback with them using cc's..knock on wood
:2 cents:

That sucks man, I don't know what to tell ya!

The only thing I can think is maybe all of their 900 billing gets invoiced in one big chunk once a month ... I remember reading SOMETHING like that, but don't quote me on it.

Good luck to ya,

-Phil

Thanks for the tips -- but fuck, I've been with them for over a year; no I'm wondering if they accrue chargebacks over a year's time. That's nuts.

We used them several years ago and had the same problem. For us, they didn't generate the passwords right. The customer would call them and be told to call again and just don't pay one of the charges. Some nights we'd see 4 calls from the same person, it was stupid. Again, this was probably 3 years ago or more, so your experience may differ.

move on dont use them any longer

daddynastee 01-30-2004 02:57 PM

Who else does 1 900 billing?

mikesouth 01-30-2004 03:01 PM

I dumped them for the same reason.

a few months ago...I have learned first sign of trouble...get rid of them.

schilli 01-30-2004 03:15 PM

I stopped using Verotel for that exact reason. They are fine for checking or phone billing but you should not use them for credit cards as they do not scrub hard enough. If you do use them do not allow any asian transactions to go through as they will most likely all get charged back.

I use CCBill, 2000Charge and Billing France. Once Verotel takes me off there suspension list I will use them again for checking and 1-900.

Hope this helps.

I don't use them for cc, just the 1 900 thing. Which I'm thinking of dumping now. It boggles the mind that a company that makes millions can't have better customer support. They've yet to answer any of my emails or phone calls. :feels-hot

We had $15,000 in 1-900 chargebacks once from Vertotel. Seems they like to spring them all on you at once. I think they get there returns every few months for 1-900

What's Billing France? Do they process credit cards? Are they a viable option for Canadians?

I just implemented them for my site www.chezchris.ca. They process CC only both visa and MC and a couple others. I have no idea if they are any good - had them online for one day. However they are in France - charge only in Euros so I figured they'd be a valuable addition to my payment processing.

Interesting... what percentage do they charge?

19% --- which sucks... yeah i know.... but hey $$ is $$ eh!

I use them alongside CCBill and 2000Charge.

The big advise is always to move on but there is only a limited number of processors it is all trial and error. so keep the credit card and get a different company to build you a dialer if your doing minutes.

I have them as secondary since last may.

Not a single chargeback. You have to fill their lenghty contract, and send them an invoice every month according to the pdf file they send you. Up to now, I have been paid according to the agreement.

Recurring is weaker with them than with Ibill, for who knows reasons.

To adult.com: thanks :thumbsup

Reading this crap just infuriates the hell out of me. I don't understand how people chargeback so easily. If you are afraid of seeing it on your bill, stay the hell away.

I guess it is just beyond me.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you. ;)

Shoplifter 01-30-2004 11:17 PM

Doesn't Verotel email clients before rebilling?

Chargebacks seem unlikely unless it's fraud.

Lord_Austin 01-31-2004 12:33 AM

Verotel has always been a little squirrelly.

bdld 01-31-2004 12:40 AM

I only use the verotel CC option.. was always "unsure" about the others, now I see I made the right decision
