What is a good price for web hosting?
 

I am about to buy my hosting, I was offered 10 mb of space and 300 mb of file trans per month. It is 200 for the year.. is this good or rip off?

Stay away from any host that charges by the year.

Do you really want to be locked into a contract? What happens if their service turns to shit? Or even if you outgrow your hosting plan? You'll be stuck with something you don't need and will still need to pay out MORE money just to keep you on track.

I have to agree with Sly. I'm very happy with my boxes at phatservers and if you need a small virtual account you can get 10 GB file trans & 50 MB of space for about the same price.

contracts are for hosts that cant hold customers

Well. For some hosts that might be true, no doubt about that. But if you try for one month, and like them, then you should go for a year. That's what I would do anyway...
