Most localities reject hard liquor ads. Act like an ass if you want to, but how often have you seen your local stations accepting hard liqour advertisements? Quote:

Not where I live in the states, and every location is different.
When I go on vacation I don't sit up in my room and watch local t.v. ... maybe you do. When I go out, I go out to a club, beach etc... not sit in the hotel room and hit the mini bar. Quote:

I see them every day and I never get out!

Sorry, I don't watch that much TV. I'll probably see a whole bunch of Hard liquor ads when I watch the superbowl. Eh? |
It is only illegal for tobacco companies to advertise through television.
Hard liquor companies did a self-imposed ban on TV commericials back in the day to avoid upsetting the prohibition people. This was standard until Seagrams started TV advertisements a few years ago. Now the others are joining in. The networks and local stations are very selective about the hard liquor ads that they will air, since they don't want to get alcohol commercials banned from TV, which would represent a huge loss of profit (all those beer commercials...). They are walking the thin line- but the ads are out there. |
