Sleep or no sleep?

I just hate it when I take a break from work and notice it's morning already - 7am in this case. Wondering if I should get some sleep now (and wake up at 4 in the afternoon) or switch from beer to coffee and keep on working.

the life of a webmaster... get used to it.. those that dont have an office and especially those with employees in different time zones will alwyas have jact sleep schedules.... i use valume and xanax to help make mine as normal as possible...

Vitasoy 01-29-2004 11:15 PM

Unfortunately, the rest of the world doesn't quite share the webmaster views on day vs night. My bank is only open from 10 to 4, for example :(

JunkyardDog 01-29-2004 11:15 PM

I used to just work through it and try and take a late afternoon nap and get back on schedule.

Problem for me was making it a nap and forcing myself to wake up after 90 minutes max.

i find that at least one of the days my sleep pattern allows me to make a bank run..... but i mainly use the ATM, no need to go to the bank, accept wires offshore only...

I find that my daily schedule tends to be slightly longer than the 24 hours in a day... so I go to bed later and later (or earlier and earlier depending on your point of view), and it takes a night of missed sleep every week or so to get back to semi-normal hours.

gornyhuy 01-29-2004 11:25 PM

My brain is all weird after an allnighter or prolonged 2 hour nights. I get these really weird visuals and phantom sounds when I turn my head too quickly, and I take cat naps for like 30 seconds at a time... !!!

I always fall into that trap... Went to bed at 7am, woke up at 5pm... going to try to force myself to sleep at 5am and wakeup at noon, then I should be synched by Saturday.

My grandpa always says that. Now I do. There's way too much to do to spend a lot of time sleeping. Six hours max for me.

Working late is the most peaceful time. Being a husband and father of 3, it's just a time that I can relax with it nice and quiet with no distractions.

Exactly...No family here, but still much less distractions at night...

Im a slave to the web these days I get about 8 hours sleep still though after reading this thread I best make the most of it :-)

The very nature of the Internet is one that completely fucks up your sleep schedule because IT never sleeps. You can come on anytime and something is happening.

In the old days everyone went to sleep after the tonight show because that was pretty much the end of the day if you were a late nighter.

Now its like there is no night anymore. You're talking to folks on the other side of the world where its already daytime.

I predict there will be serious health ramifications starting to show up in a few more years as the Net generation starts to age and show the results of being so sleep deprived and malignedd.

I know my sleep time is all fucked ,
I am here in PI most my buyers are in the usa and clints and that is no less then 12 hour back from me so that fucks me then , i have other business that i handle and run here so i can to deal with that as well i find myself all the time going 18 to 25 or more hours and then little sleep and every 10 to 14 days i just die off for the whole day and sleep.

You know you need sleep when you do what i seem to have been doing here alot latly , have your head on your hand kind of in a rest gee i need to go to bed feeling , and the next thing you know is your head and the key board seem to want to meet in a painfull way . I am more then sure 5 times this week for me :( :( :(

Raf1 01-30-2004 02:36 PM
