Best ever science fiction film.

What is the best ever science fiction film?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-29-2004 01:16 PM

I almost said BladeRunner.
But I am Biased with Alien.

Scott McD 01-29-2004 01:17 PM

Star Wars - A New Hope

Closely followed by Aliens... :)

DVTimes 01-29-2004 01:18 PM

I still think Forbidden Planet is also great.

What lets it down is a certain comedian with white hair who appears in it as the ships captain.

DVTimes 01-29-2004 01:19 PM

We can see who the perverts are, voting for Barbarella (1968) (but she is hot in it).

When is the new Star Wars film out? (the 3rd one)

sexyclicks 01-29-2004 01:23 PM

where is close encounters of the 3rd kind?

Manowar 01-29-2004 01:23 PM

i would say the Alien film series

OK its got Alieans, but its not that much science fiction. It was based on so called true facts rather than fiction.

The film was put together from recorded events.

Plus it was only ok, not that great.

Tron was better.

Zebra 01-29-2004 01:26 PM

Star Wars Original Trilogy.
Throwing the last (first?) two in drops it down.

On Aliens I only count the first two. The next 2 were decent on their own but they TOTALLY fucked up the franchise in #3.

Vitasoy 01-29-2004 01:34 PM

It's gotta be star wars :)

gornyhuy 01-29-2004 01:35 PM

where is
matrix?
12 monkeys?
5th element?
tron?
minority report?
AI :1orglaugh
etc etc...

I know I know you hit the big ones, just saying the list is far from complete.

PenisFace 01-29-2004 01:35 PM

Definitly the Alien movies. Though I saw underworld recently and loved it. Kate Beckinsale + tight latex suits = win.

where is.......
This board only allows 12 options.

But lets face it:
matrix = dull.
12 monkeys = not sci fi (as in aliens). OK film, but thats it, ok.
5th element = ok film, hot babe, but not a top sci fi film.
tron = ok, but floped. It looks old now. Looks bad in parts.
minority report = not seen it.
AI = i heard it was poo.

But in terms of sci-fi, blade runner has my vote. Best deathbed (deathroof?) speech ever.

"I've seen things you people would not believe... attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I've watched C-Beams glitter in the dark by the Tannhauser gate... all these... MOMENTS will be lost in time... like tears in rain. Time... to die."

What about Galaxy Quest? NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER SURRENDER! :BangBang:

rickholio 01-29-2004 02:05 PM

Oh yeah, one more...

Dr. Strangelove!

Part-timer 01-29-2004 02:19 PM

Starwars :thumbsup

Rob 01-29-2004 02:22 PM

Star Wars : The Empire Strikes Back with Tron a very, very close second!

Tron2000 is coming out soon!!! YAY!

Jamdin 01-29-2004 02:22 PM

Classic science fiction movies versus modern science fiction movies should not be done considering the advancement of special effects. The Day The Earth Stood Still receives my vote for the best classic science fiction film that is on the list. Blade Runner would be my choice for best modern science fiction film.

I always considered Alien a mixed genre that crossed horror over into the science fiction realm.

Also, the orginal Dune is a good science fiction film to watch too :thumbsup

SexxxyChat-T 01-29-2004 02:31 PM

Mars Attacks!

Does The Abyss count? that movie rocked

Anna_O 01-29-2004 02:48 PM

Star Wars V - The Empire Strikes Back :thumbsup

DVTimes 01-29-2004 02:52 PM

A few more:

ET
Robo Cop
Saturn 3 (I think that was the name, with the robot that went nuts)

There was also the 70's B film with the hippies, and the aliean that was just a beach ball with feet, and the big nuke bomb that goes nuts.

The Truth Hurts 01-29-2004 02:56 PM

Blade Runner and 2001 are two of the most boring and irritating pieces of crap ever laid down on film.

Dark City
Abyss, The
Cube & Cube 2
Sphere
Stargate
and so on...

But from your list i'll pick the Star Trek Movies as a whole.
