I almost said BladeRunner.
But I am Biased with Alien.

Star Wars - A New Hope

Closely followed by Aliens... :)

I still think Forbidden Planet is also great.

What lets it down is a certain comedian with white hair who appears in it as the ships captain.

We can see who the perverts are, voting for Barbarella (1968) (but she is hot in it).

i would say the Alien film series

OK its got Alieans, but its not that much science fiction. It was based on so called true facts rather than fiction.

The film was put together from recorded events.

Plus it was only ok, not that great.

Tron was better.

Star Wars Original Trilogy.
Throwing the last (first?) two in drops it down.

On Aliens I only count the first two. The next 2 were decent on their own but they TOTALLY fucked up the franchise in #3.

Definitly the Alien movies. Though I saw underworld recently and loved it. Kate Beckinsale + tight latex suits = win.

BTW, word is Cameron has signed up for a major HUGE budget scifi movie for 2005.

This board only allows 12 options.

But lets face it:
matrix = dull.
12 monkeys = not sci fi (as in aliens). OK film, but thats it, ok.
5th element = ok film, hot babe, but not a top sci fi film.
tron = ok, but floped. It looks old now. Looks bad in parts.
minority report = not seen it.
AI = i heard it was poo.

John Lithgow and Chistopher Lloyd carried that whole film. B-movie comedy genius. :thumbsup

But in terms of sci-fi, blade runner has my vote. Best deathbed (deathroof?) speech ever.

Classic science fiction movies versus modern science fiction movies should not be done considering the advancement of special effects. The Day The Earth Stood Still receives my vote for the best classic science fiction film that is on the list. Blade Runner would be my choice for best modern science fiction film.

I always considered Alien a mixed genre that crossed horror over into the science fiction realm.

Also, the orginal Dune is a good science fiction film to watch too :thumbsup

There was also the 70's B film with the hippies, and the aliean that was just a beach ball with feet, and the big nuke bomb that goes nuts.

Blade Runner and 2001 are two of the most boring and irritating pieces of crap ever laid down on film.
