Jupiter Down
Am I the only Jupiter customer down? I've been down for 50 minutes now, and down 13 times in the past 32 hours. Is this happening only to me?
|
An hour and counting.
|
You should take a look at isprime.
They might be a lot more expensive but they are never down. |
I got the feeling I've seen these "Jupiter Down" threads before....?
|
Downtime really sucks :BangBang:
|
Yeah actually going to talk to National Net today.
|

Thanks KC. Still down here. Looks like only about 10% of people can get to it and all others get stuck in a routing loop.
|
I get bounced between a WCG and An ALERON node.
|
Yeah that's what I'm seeing. Trying to get a hold of Ray but he turned his cell off. Called tech support and been on hold for 10+ minutes. Can't get anybody on the line.

Yes they are down, a friend of mine was actually transferring their stuff off Jupiter today to a new host because of all the problems. Go figure, cannot even get the stuff off the jupiter box.
Insane. |
90 minutes and counting. What a mistake moving to jupiter :(
|
I have some stuff hosted there. They seem to be down alot. :(
|
Straight up.. this is whats going on.
We have had Yipes as a bandwidth provider for a year. They are not the best, so we dumped them. Now, 5 hopes down from us, our network routes are stuck in a routing loop (on some upstream provider). It is effecting 1/4 of our network routes only. |
www.realitychecknetwork.com - what downtime??, not here man
|
one of the only things that pisses me off in this business is downtime w/ no updates from support

We sent out an e-mail and made a post here last night.
|
We seem to be ok.
All Hosts have their problems. Jupitor is one of the top 5. You pay through the nose with all of them if you use a lot of banwidth.:2 cents: |
Everythings working here, and I can get to Twistys :thumbsup

you got a good memory - didn't think a lot of people remembered this nick..... I been great - looks like you could be better :(
by the way I been able to reach twisty's too from Kentucky |
Jupiter was not down today. Looks like Shap got the shaft from an upstream provider.
They moved datacenters this week, so I know there have been issues. They did not have a single outage in 2003! Here is one of my 54 servers there this AM. http://www.webmasteraccess.com/lens/pbchart.jpg Time Round Trip Time 8:10 am 1/29/04 0.12 sec 8:20 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 8:30 am 1/29/04 0.15 sec 8:40 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 8:50 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 9:00 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 9:10 am 1/29/04 0.16 sec 9:20 am 1/29/04 0.16 sec 9:30 am 1/29/04 0.23 sec 9:40 am 1/29/04 0.21 sec 9:50 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 10:00 am 1/29/04 0.22 sec 10:10 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 10:20 am 1/29/04 0.22 sec 10:30 am 1/29/04 0.14 sec 10:40 am 1/29/04 0.18 sec 10:50 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 11:00 am 1/29/04 0.12 sec 11:10 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec 11:20 am 1/29/04 0.13 sec |
I dont know how we would have been able to grow so fast without Jupiter working with us to help build a solid network.
Keep up the good work Ray. ps: I can understand leaving a hosting provider should they be down for a couple hours and they dont give u a credit. However, Jupiter gives you a credit when they are at fault and prior to this, I have never had any real downtime with them that was worth noticing. Providers go down......yahoo has gone down before. |

I like Jupiter, they have been GREAT to us and I really hope they get this "upstream problem" fixed soon. |
Everything on our monitors is showing greeen. If you are having a problem, icq me directly. 74335014.

getting to twistys just fine from NYC
|
We've been up and running for the past few hours. Heard about the upstream problems. Definitely no fun for us, nor for jupiter (who has to deal with the problem and my bitching). Glad everything is up and running again.

Lens, I'm glad to see that your tour was kept up. I'm glad to see that Jupiter actually was CAPABLE of keeping service up, but yet the fact remains that Jupiter did have substantial outages last night. We were up and down all night and lost Joins and cost affiliates money due to a redundancy issue that you guys had with little notice and left us few/no options. Bottom Line. Own up when the thing goes down, because there is nothing worse than losing money, disappointing your affiliates, and then being told that it didn't happen. It's not in anyone's imagination. TarPy |
Before anyone gets smart, as far as I'm concerned, the "UPSTREAM" is Jupiter's concern, so the upstream may have gone out on Jupiter, at Shap's facility, but it did not go out on Shap.
Jupiter was unable to keep Shap's box's UP, due to an upstream problem THEY had. Why does everyone forget what their responsibilities as a company are and start pointing fingers? I remember when Pichunter had problems at LikeWhoa, and they pointed the finger at the "Upstream" as well. The problem was that they didn't pay the bill. The problem here could be all kinds of things, bad relations between Jupiter and the Upstream provider, outages at the provider level, abuse of the IP blocks provided by the provider. The point is, while we don't have any clue as to the actual cause of the outage. Shap's box at Jupiter hosting was inaccessable for a significant period of time, as was ours, and money was lost, and his program was down, while Lens' seemed to be up just fine. Own up please, downtime is unavoidable, but don't try to cover the issue. TarPy |
TarPY,
SHAP did have issues last night. However, I would like to point out that we sent out an e-mail to customers last night, including you, as we have done the last three nights letting you know we were moving servers from our old data center to our new and that we anticipated some downtime. We went so far as to post this on GFY as well. FURTHERMORE, I personally ICQ'ed your firms management and told them about the move and to anticipate limited downtime. I explained the logistical steps we were taking to move your servers, and the possible effect that it would have. ICQ me for the logs. Your collocated servers, of which you did not provide passwords to, came up just fine (pingable and ssh'able) however internally, your admins had misconfigured the servers and the webservers did not start. As a collocated customer without support, we went above and beyond by logging into your servers as a favor (once a password was provided) and fixed the startup problems and brought up yor web and db services services. This was done 10 minutes after we were told that services were down. The one Dedicated Fully Managed server you have with us was brought up as described (services) after the move and had exactly 33 minutes of downtime for the move. I also personally spoke to you today and informed you of the credit that we will be issuing for the downtime. A credit for a scheduled maintenance window? Try to find a company that does that outside our industry. I agree that if an upstream of our upstream has an issue, that it is our issue. I take responsibility for that although my ability to effect change is limited to telephone calls. Does that sound like "Like Whoa"? Does that sound like a provider that isn't stepping up to the plate and willing to put their pocket book where their SLA is? Do you think that when I issue the thousands of dollars in credits this month that it doesn't hurt? Its called doing the right thing and I don't have a problem doing it. I realize that when my customers shit is down, they don't make money. Their pain should be my pain. I have been running this for place for 4 years. The last two weeks we have had downtime. No doubt. Nothing I can do about it. Can't stress about it and we have to move on. I know we will be here tomorrow and years from now. If you wish to discuss this, I am on ICQ. ~ Ray |
hmmn would you rather they spend time answering hundreds of telephone calls or fixing the problem . . .

There isn't a major hosting company in the adult biz that has not had an outage. I didn't post the others, because no one spammed them in this thread. After all, it's the Internet. The lame spam is getting too thick here. Time to end it. |
