installing windows xp on two pc's
I installed windows xp on my second pc and used the same serial as the first one. now the second pc wants to "activate windows to prevent piracy". It says I have 30 days to activate it or I wont be able to use it. My question is, what if the pc had no modem? how does that work?

Should have unplugged your ethernet cable when you were installing it.

Go ahead and activate on the 2nd PC. If it has been 6 months since the 1st activation, it should be OK.
If not, call MS and claim you had to replace the MB and then reinstall. Beauty is, it is a valid lie. They will give you the activation key. |
I have the same key on 6 computers networked together... what the hell are you smoking?
|
XP Pro Corporate Version solves that problem too..

they're checking to make sure it's not a pirated copy sold at some flea market. They're not checking to see if it's a duplicate key. Only that it's a valid MS key.
sheesh. |
i have a corp version and have installed it on like 30 computes for friends never a prob but if you did what you said then it will lock up in 30 days
