Filmmaker eats McDonald's for a month and nearly dies
http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2004/01/279198.shtml
The film is called Super Size Me: A Film of Epic Proportions and the director, Morgan Spurlock, at only McDonald's food (not the healthy stuff) for 3 meals a day for a month. If a server asked him if he'd like to supersize his meal he had to accept, and eat every bit of food on his plate. Within a few days of starting the experiment he was vomiting up his meals and battling headaches and depression. After the monthlong experiment he had gained a ton of weight and his cholesterol had risen from 165-230. His liver was nearly ready to give out at the end of the month. Disgusting. |
can't wait to see it.
|
youi know your an idiot when.....
|
Now thats a documentary with purpose, I would definitely pay $10 to see that.
|
Jeeze, I wonder if he cares he took years off his life doing that...

anything for film and porn! |
a defenite "must see"....
hard to imagine people eating that shit more than once a week |

That is insane. So all the human body can take is one month of McDonalds?
|
what a dumbass! I'd watch the documentary though :winkwink:
|

Of course, and in what way? |
The body can only fight off that shit for so long:xomunch
|
i wonder if my 3 week Tony Roma's ribs, potatoes skins and baked beans diet is good for me?

Best of luck with that site in the future, seems hilarious :) |
When I was in high school I had a cheeseburger and fries every single school day for 4 years straight. Then at least a couple nights a week I'd have it again for supper.

I wonder what he ate for the month. Was it strictly Big Macs and fries or did he eat thier salads and things like that too to create variety.
Eating nothing but lettuce and water for a month would be just as bad. Any fool that eats nothing but McDonalds every day or any fast food for that matter deserve what they get. It's all about personal responsiblity which is a concept most people don't seem to grasp anymore. |
He didn't eat the salads or anything like that. He was eating off the meal menu. And he was doing it to show that America's eating habits are out of control.
|
I like the grilled chicken there. I'm not big on the burgers there. Once every few years, I'll have a big mac. But this thread says he ate the bad stuff not the healthy and the chicken is somewhat healthier than the big mac as far as i know.
|
that is disgusting.
mcdonalds is evil, and the dudes prolly gonna end up with cancer on top of all this. |
everyone knows MaccyDs aren't good for you. no-one eats them for a month solid - what is this proving ?

That's really gross.. Good thing we don't have McD's often.. Even though I'm sure the kids would love it, I'd rather stuff them full of Broccoli , baby carrots and black olives (which are their favorite foods)
|
i fucking hate mcdicks. nasty.
|
this guy sounds like another Michael Moore, making shit up as he goes along to make his documentary more interesting.
absolutely ridiculous, a healthy person could exist on nothing but McDonald's for years. It's not a great diet obviously and over time it will affect your health but no worse than the diet of many people already, me included. i hope McDonald's comes out and does their own experiment, takes some regular Joe's between 20-40 and feed them nothing but McD food - there won't be any health crisis with any of them. |
I guess he didn't order the diet coke with his meals.

No human can survive on McD's for a year, let alone several. They would die, period. When a truly healthy person eats McDonalds one time they get an upset stomach at best. I can't believe you actually think it's food, let's go get a nice combo of mealworm and chemicals for the kids! |

Of course it's bad for you. If you eat nothing Big Macs for a month then yes, that is bad but not taking into account the other offerings they have such as grilled chicken sandwhiches and salads is kinda one sided don't you think. And as I said before eating nothing but (insert your own food here) and and water for a month is just as bad. Try your own experiment at home. Eat your own home cooked hamburgers and fries for a month straight every meal and see how you feel. |
i don't believe it. he went into this knowing how he wanted this 'experiment' to turn out.
a neutral third party, like 60 Minutes or 20/20, should get three people and do the same thing and compare. I'm sure three super-sized meals of McDonalds burgers n fries a day for a month will make u fatter, if you don't exercise which this guy probably doesn't, and your cholestrol could increase - but this shit about him almost dying and liver failure - bullshit. for somebody who is relatively healthy going into this experiment. has McDonalds commented yet on this? if i were them i would because i've heard this story a bunch of time already on and offline. they should hire somebody from the tobacco industry. i used to love listening to those people, still claiming that there is no evidence tobacco actually causes cancer. |

It's definitely a one sided deal, but like I said before, most people go into McDonald's for a burger, not a veggie burger. That's what he's getting at I believe. |

dude i seriously don't doubt the validity of the experiment, but as it was previously stated you could eat anything - fucking hummus and tofu - for a month straight and probably not be too healthy after it was all said and done.
fuck this fatass i eat carls jr like every other day and i'm healthy and thin as shit. i have variety in my diet though. |

You don't know what you're talking about. |
I think it would be interesting to watch. Kinda like a car wreck or something. But, I still think the guy is moron. I mean it's not health food. It's fast food. It seams over the past few years people just keep getting dumber and dumber. I think this guy and those two fat kids who wanted to take Mc Donald's to court for making them fat should each try a new experiment. Something like how long can they sit in a parked car in the garage with the engine running before the fumes kill them. On second thought that wouldn't work. The families would just try to take the manufacturer of the garage door to court because it should have been open.

I just love how people are tyring to knock how valid the experiment was. He was making a film, not doing 5 billion dollar research here.

Who's got that picture of the two really fat kids at McD's? This thread can't end without it.
Look at some of the facts from that article, I don't know the sources but if they're anywhere near close it's a scary thought: "one in four Americans visits a fast-food restaurant every day. " "Among the issues he highlights is the willingness of schools to feed students nothing but burgers and pizza." Is that a joke? The kids at my children's schools get pizza once a month maybe, and never burgers. Do schools really give kids fast food in the US? I mean younger than high school. |

When I get hungry I eat... and I'm always driving around. Nothing but double cheeseburgers and fries. I'm 6'4" and 190lbs and haven't been sick in 8 years. I'm also about to head over now... :laughlaugh |
