You really need 40gb's of mp3's?

It's a 40GB hard drive. When you plug it into your computer, Windows immediately recognizes it as an extra hard drive (accessible like any other one on your computer through Windows Explorer).

I plan on using it to store data when I'm on the road (since my laptop has a small HD).

Just get an iPod and save yourself the trouble.

The only time I will ever replace my iPod is if someone makes a good portable mp3 player that is also easily hooked up in my car somehow, otherwise its Apple for life.
