Question over overture
 

Hi all,

A stupid newby SE question. I'm thinking of buying some SE listings @ overture...

Now they say, when listed there you will be listed on yahoo, MSN, altavista etc.


I looked at some keywords, and I found it first of all rather cheap.

But now the next part.

For example I want the keyword

HARDCORE SEX

Monthly volume is

107,038 searches

They assume, I will get 5,351 CLICKS, to be number 1 I have to pay 10CPC, so it means 535 US DOLLAR for this right?

Okay, now next part, I looked at MSN, YAHOO, ALTAVISTA, INFOSEEK, but nowhere I see the sponsored results. I see them only on www.overture.com

IN other words, will I REALLY be listed on all those other sites?

it's far from cheap. Definitely is the hardest traffic source to make profit at the moment. If you are not at least very familiar with ppcs you won't break even at 10cents+ from OVT traffic. A large % of it comes from asian countries and makes things even harder. If your listing doesnt appear at the top 3-7 or so spots you won't get listed on the places you mentioned. I'm not trying to scare you, try for yourself.

Thanks, not scared me, I appreaciate such comments... I see now the min is 0.10. Funny thing is numer 10 positions on my keywords only pay 0.04. I heard that are some old listings, and they are lucky....

Andre, try less popular KWs, but more targeted than hardcore sex. You might end up paying less for better traffic. :)

"Hardcore sex" is targetted, "Sex" or "porn" aren't.

"amateur group facial" is more targetted.

Or should we try "midget blonde interracial group sex"? :thumbsup

The key is to go for less popular words.
It's hard to make profit with the top keywords especialy when you have no ppc advertising experience.
Get a shitload of less popular keywords and you'll see it can be a very good moneymaker.

Yahoo only shows sponsored listing to US surfers, also adult listings are not displayed on msn, I guess yahoo as well.
You'll get traffic from smaller SEs as well, but lately Overture quality has gone to shit.
And yes, those 5c listings, from 5-9c are old grandfathered search terms that cannot be changed anylonger but to 10c or more), for you now, 10c is the min. No listings under 5c are now present on Overture.
Overture is either not profitable or the profit is very small nowadays, it's not worth it. :2 cents:
