Spam my with Dogs :-) What dog do you advice

What is the best loyal dog for an adult webmaster :-)

I was looking, and I think I go for a VIZSLA

http://www.magyar-vizsla.nl/images/stories/werkhond.jpg

I want a dog that has SHORT hair, doesn't bark to much, and can be very well trained....And it should be friendly from nature

I have researched almost 83573285723 dogs, but maybe I missed some good ones....

you can search for dogs you can adopt in your are on this site. i just found my dog on there and i'm getting him in 2 days. its a great site. go there and look at some and see what you like. i dont know if they have it there, but here they also have adoption days where you can go in and look at all the dogs up for adoption.

beemk 01-27-2004 01:19 PM

also go here to look through different dog breeds... they have videos too.

Lhasa-Apso - I have one and they are the best most even tempeted dogs out there.

Also make a great lapdog!

Peaches 01-27-2004 01:21 PM

Whatever you get, please either get from a pound or from a breed rescue group. :)

haha sweet, I have been wanting to get one of those too!

very pretty dog and loyal.. those dogs rock

another i was considering was a rhodesian ridgeback

Marcus 01-27-2004 01:28 PM

I used to work with dogs and Vizsla'a are awesome dogs. They have really nice rich coats and I love the color.
People would constantly comment on how beautiful he was and what kind of dog he was. Easy to train and they'll do anything to make you happy.

Theyre overloaded with energy so you should have a huge yard or be able to take them to a park everyday where they can run hard or they get depressed.
They played great with other dogs and sometimes would outrun greyhounds.

if you want a dog with SHORT hair and doesn't bark to much you might want to look at an African Basenji. But theyre very quiet and can be mean and really hard to train.

Get a mongrel, Andre
Breeds always have medical problems at some stage, mongrels are much tougher.
Lekkere vuilnisbakkenras joh :)

i've never owned one, but i have heard from people who have that great danes like to lay around the house all day - once they are outside, they like to run, but inside, they are lazy. if you have a lot of room in your house for such a huge dog, that might be a good choice for a webmaster since they won't bug you to play catch, etc., like a lab will. i have always owned labs, and you almost have to have another dog around for the lab to play with, otherwise, they will want to play ALL DAY.

I like labradors. But what I don't like is, that from 10 dogs in Holland 7 are labradors...But I agree they look great, and they have a good behaviour. To bad so many ppl have them.

Thanks, good to hear this from a person who is experienced with the breed. I like the part easy to train, and also friendly towards other dogs.

I know basenji's can't bark. But they are very hard to train, and even when you trained very well. they still don't listen....

Adopt a dog from your local humane society. I have a chow mix I adopted and he is a great dog.

ztik 01-27-2004 02:28 PM

adopt a rescued greyhound

They hardly ever bark
they prefer to lay around all day, but will play when you want them too
short hair
you can get them pre-trained

Best dog I have ever owned

awfulkoffel 01-27-2004 02:38 PM

Yes first timer, don't need protection. I'm big enough :1orglaugh

Just want to get more out the house, and be more sportive :-) Also good for a break and a nice walk. Also some companion,

Andre

Another nice dog in line with Vizla's and Rhodesian Ridgebacks are Chesepeake Bay Retrievers.

Check them out.

i have a lhasa also, they're great - but they have long hair that needs to be brushed often - they don't shed though, which is good.

I agree, but I don't realy care. I wanted a boxer or a lab, but this one seemed to be the best choice for a first one :thumbsup

BobChezule 01-27-2004 03:56 PM

You should definitely get a pug. One of my pugs:

http://www.babelistings.com/pug.jpg

Friendly, happy, loving dogs.

Kimmykim 01-27-2004 03:57 PM

Italian greyhound, saluki, whippet.

These are pretty good dogs... however they need at least 2 hr of walking, running per day. Can you provide that? If not, they can be depressed, etc. Physical activity can be good for an adult webmaster too :)

For a big dog I would get a Chocolate lab.

For a smaller dog I would get a dauchsand. Those dogs rock.
