I almost got a Fiero a couple times when I was a kid. They look cool if you're a kid on a tight budget. My dad talked me out of it though. He's a smart guy and I'm glad I listened to him.

My first car, red coupe and looked pretty sporty for the price and sleekness! Mine started fucking up at 80k and I sold it. True they are cheap shit and dont last as long as a japanese car...but still. for the price and coolness of the right color, they were slick. how many cars in 95 looked sleek like that? not very many.... |

My girlfriend had one of those in high school for bit. Piece of crap. |
Oldsmobile Delta 88 (1979-84) :2 cents:
|
my first car was a blue 78 Ford Pinto Hatchback :( got it when I was 16, my grandfather was a auto dealer at the time and he loved working on ford pintos.. not sure why, but I drove the hell out of it! I'm suprised the chevy citation didn't make it on there
|
I knew a guy back in high school that had a Fiero. One day he was driving to school at a rather high rate of speed (for a Fiero) and both flip-up headlight covers flew off straight up into the air. He had to stop and try find them in the ditch.
What I don't understand is how both would fall off at exactly the same time. Talk about a serious design flaw. The old Chevy S10 Blazers with the 2.8L were junk as well. They all had oil pump problems. There's not a better sound than a camshaft breaking because the oil pump quit working on ya. :thumbsup 4.3's weren't bad though. |
I'm surprised MG Midgets didn't make the list

my mom owned the pinto......rode in it as a kid.......then it died....
that was a good ol'car |
none
|
I had a Pinto and a Vega when I was a kid. They were the cheapest things, it was either that or walk. I remember I was so poor I had to park my Vega on hills for 2 months so I could clutch start it cuz I couldn't afford a new battery.
|
Forgot the Pontiac FireFly!
|
Why is the Fiero on that list? It's a great car.
|
Do you know why a Hyundai has a rear window defroster?
To keep your hands warm when you're pushing it :Graucho |
no

hrm, i'd have to disagree a little bit about the s10's. granted the 4.3 is an infinitely better motor, but the 2.8's gm were using during the mid 80's were alright. my first car was an 86 celebrity, and i tried _so hard_ to make that car just plain not work anymore, and it wouldn't. it ran with oil, without oil, everything. i even went for about a year without even opening the hood.. and over 13,000 miles without changing the oil. it wasn't the _best_ running car with the most power, but it always started, and it at least ran. the exterior looked like shit (from hitting it with things and rust), but the interior was perfect. pretty much the same i've seen with the blazers from auto shops and friends, the 2.8 always ran pretty good. |

I actually currently own a '84 Oldsmobile Delta 88, I think its a great car, have had it over a year and it has not been to the shop once!!! Just little minor stuff I could do myself. The wife drives it 60-100 miles/day 5 days a week going to work and back, you couldnt ask for a more dependable vehicle, and what's more I only paid 450$ for it, seriously :)
But I guess this article is reffering to the 4-6-8 and diesel engines. Mine is just a 307 (5.0) V-8. |

My parents actually got better gas mileage with a newer 4.3 then they did with their old 2.8 Blazer. Just thought of another bad car. The 1980's Cadillac Eldorado with the 4.1 L V8. They actually made a 4000 pound car with a V8 that only had 130 horsepower. What the hell were they thinking? Unfortunately I used to own one. |

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh That was the first car of one of my friend . Sooooo crappy . he sold it to somebody else that sold it etc. I still see it running arround the city. |
There is no such thing as a bad AMC vechile. I restored a pacer a long time ago - then sold it. It was a great car but it took alot of work to repair all the rust. They rusted like hell.
|
I had a Pontiac Fiero, perfect car for me since I am only 4ft 9 :) Hard on alternator belts though
|
I'm shocked that I haven't had one on the list.
I have had an Omni though, that little thing just wouldn't die. Fiat Spider should be up there. That damn thing would die ALL the time. Nothing like pushing a car through all the intersections all the way back from the beach on a hot weekend because first gear went out and it's geared too high to start out in second gear... but when it was working it was a super fun little car! |
