Outsourced webmasters at $350 per month
 

I've heard a buddy say there's a deal for outsourced webmasters (who've gone through rigorous training and know html/jscript/msql/php) for $350 a month . 48 hours a week. They provide the computers/bandwidth/time sheets/on cam monitoring, etc etc

Is this a good deal?

I guess the considerations are the following:


MUST understand/speak English fluently

MUST be available on ICQ for the time they are working

MUST work US/EU/CAN hours (hours of their webmaster employers in US/EU/CAN)

MUST go through a rigorous training regimen

MUST have certification re applications/HTML/J.a.v.a.s.c.r.i.p.t./ph-p/etc

MUST have gone through an "apprenticeship" program

MUST be working at a centralized site

MUST be centrally managed (in addition to 1 on 1 communications with employer)


Plus there must be safeguards against them working for other employers.

That will be 1500$/month, thank you come again. Those 350/month people are mostly for grunt work, if they can do better, you're lucky:thumbsup

That's what I'm trying to find out. Also trying to see if there are other systemic ways to push the price even lower.

They do but I don't want to mess up the surprise for him. He's testing this out with a US based data capture company. Apparently the results are looking very promising :)

$200 you have to be right at cost or even a little below it.

I would be suspect of a long term relationship at that price, as it would be very difficult to retain employees and even stay profitable for the outsourcing company.

If it is your own office, maybe.

That's based on Philippine prices, I don't know India/China/East Europe

1. that they follow directions (ie: if I give them a particular way to build a site, that's how they'll build it)
2. accountability for the work they've done (DAILY reports) so I know they're not just sitting there picking their noses
3. completing projects on-time
4. speak competent english
5. respond in a timely manner to inquiries (icq,email)

This is what I'd expect of any employee, not just outsourced ones.
I don't mind - actually I prefer - giving someone detailed directions and even examples of how I want something done; I'm not the type of person to just say "build me 10 free sites". I say "build me 10 free sites like THIS one" and then expect that the sites actually BE like the one I gave as an example.

The lowest I see on this site is $795/mo.

This is my most major concern, I understand that many foreign people can speak English. But very fluent English is a barrier that not many people have under their belt.

Those guys charge $800 ... so its not them.

True, but those who spent more than 8 hours a day are only required to work 5 days a week. we have to extend our days of work to keep up with our clients who needs full-time work round the clock. I too spend more than 8 hours just to keep with my clients and to make sure everything is running smoothly with AOS.

In Asia, the Philippines is the only country that can speak the English language fluently. Call Centers is one of the major booming industry here, Macromedia, MSN and other bigger players, you name it.

This works out to about 92 cents an hour.

I had a couple at $900 a month. They were good for building free hosted galleries and banners...well one of them was. The second guy we let go...couldn't even make a usable banner.

Insist on a free week long trial to make sure you have some one worth a damn. Even cheap labor isn't free.

How do folks who use outsourced HTML people handle things like copywriting and wording?

Do you provide a flat file with info for each page? Fax a drawing?

I have several projects I'd love to outsource, but I am wondering how I could do it without having to go through and rewrite a lot of stuff each time.

Is there anyone out there actually doing this for the bulk of their sites?

Being a Filipino myself, i can attest to the fact that Filipinos are really good in
the English language and not only that, we can speak English without the accent.

As a side note i would like to share with you a funny story that i came across with
one of our local papers here.

WHO SAID THAT? : We've heard many stories about Filipios and other Asian children excelling

Hell that's cheap, tell you what give me there web address or contact details and i'll take some on, my guys cost a lot more than that for me.

After my computer, water, electric, internet costs my costs per employee are way above that.

As long as they don't work from home.... loads of guys like that around for that money.

They gotta be supervised and have fast internet connections and take responsability for there actions if they fuck up.
