Massive Industry Changes to Come? look at ARS
From the ARS board
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I guess I didn't really answer the question. The reason I feel PMV has fallen so much is because: ? Increased Regulations from the Card Associations - The tighter those regulations the more 'consumer' friendly you have to be. Its to a point now that refunds are given ON the spot, and the cancel form is put on almost every page. Really not an intelligent way for a 'for profit' business to run its operation. ? Decreased Market Growth (Lack of New Surfers) - Most of the market consists of experienced internet surfers and previous customers of porn. They know the 'rebilling game' and they know to cancel almost as soon as they sign up. This drastically drops rebilling rates which DRASTICALLY drops PMV. ? Poor Content Quality - This is just as big as the other reasons. The quality of the content and quantity of niche content that companies are selling for $40 / mo is not justifiable. Its only been recently that the quality of sites has increased. However, it isn't enough. The longer that sites much like the ones in the ARS portfolio continue to exist, the longer the problem will continue. Programs like BYOT just perpetuate the problem. Over promising tours and under-delivering members areas. BYOT will cease to exist as we know it. New site registrations will stop this coming week and existing sites will have to be completely revamped (some fore shadowing there) All the while member values have declined, payouts have continue to stay the same. That has caused programs to decrease in profits and / or shave sales counts. The companies will integrity and honesty will change the way they do business or cease to do business. The companies without the above qualities will continue to pay what they pay and use less than average quality content and continue to try to stay above the 'red'. Add on top of that the fact that one of the big profit generators, consoles, have been cut by 2/3's because of the mass proliferation of pop up blockers. Most programs counted highly upon exit traffic to help 'buffer' payouts, however we earn VERY VERY little compared to 18 months ago on exits. The model will change in this regards, consoles will be completely controlled by the traffic originator and they can use them how they wish to profit from them how they wish. Anyways, when the big changes come down the line with ARS I will have a similar lengthly write up on the the 'State of the Industry' and the 'State of the Company / Program (ARS)'. I will also have many hefty FAQ's to help with many questions that will be raised! All that said, the changes to come are VERY good. I believe conversions will increase and members will stay longer which will allow similar payouts to current structures. Remember, its the year of CONTENT! Don't construe all of this as a simple 'Decrease of Payouts' that is not even close to the answer to this problem. Stay positive... This industry is in its maturing stage after the big bang. +++++++++++++++++++ This begs the question........ is it UNFAIR to tar with the SHAVING brush the sponsors that retain the OLD billing models? |
There is already a post about this here.

Here's more background: We are not switching to a Revshare basis only, we are not switching to an active model (only paid on 'recurring' members), we are not lowering payouts on existing sites. Unfortunately that will cotninue to perpetuate the problem. What we are doing is BIGGER and BETTER!! |
A revised BYOT?
The next REALLY big addition will come end of March. This will be the reincarnation to BYOT and will be the biggest money maker for all WMs for 2004 (just a lil prediction of mine). This is the most exciting of the projects. |
Looks like the ADULTBOUNCER model.........
The old GIM sites (GIM Legacy as I call it) must go to pave the way for the new. Also one of the BIGGEST reinvention of BYOT is a stand alone program where you use the huge content DB of our content partner (yet to be named) and build your own tour and CONTROL your own members area. The content will literally be 100s of Gigs of movies and pictures. Not plug in content or over licensed pictures either. This is ALL about upgrading the quality of content across the board and give webmasters access to HUGE volumes of HOT content not seen everywhere that the surfers will find refreshing and enjoyable (and actually PAY for the shit at the same time *this is the key* hehe). |

In the two years I've been selling on the net it has changed a lot. When I came here there were shooters telling me that what the surfers wanted was the crap they shot, not my "Glossy magazine" style. Some of those guys are no longer with us. :)
It's not only that the surfer is more educated of his rights, he is also more educated at what can be bought for his $35 a month. The attitude 2 years ago was that he was a fool who could be conned into buying anything and so long as you threw enough traffic at it you would make money. That has changed. He's been a member of how many sites before he signed up to this one? He knows what can be produced and is not going to accept being conned by someone who does not respect him. The death of pop ups is a good thing not a bad thing, for every sign up gained by them how many were put off surfing the net because of them? Hopefully the porn spammer will go the same way. Those with respect, integrity and talent will weather the storm and prosper. Those with out can start flipping burgers. The porn consumer has learnt the benefits of buying porn over the Internet, all we have to do is serve him better to keep him. |
Why anyone pays for porn now is amazing to begin with. If you can't find at least a gallery or two to jack off to on the Hun each day, wtf? Every niche is on there and the galleries are first rate.
Loads of passwords sites. Loads of tgps. Free is everywhere. Half of the problem is the free porn bullshit everyone hands out so loosely. Cutback on that bs industry wide and sales will go up. The old business model is about to go out the window. The new one is coming in. If you aren't ready to adapt and change you're going to need deep pockets to survive 2004 and profits will be minimal if any. For those who have it figured out, it will be a banner year. |
What I find interesting, is programs Like EpicCash, SicCash, OrgasmCash, aren't talking about massive changes, maybe it's because their business model is working, it only seems to be the guys offering the high payouts ($35 or more PPS) running for cover...
Of course, maybe the guys that are paying $25-$30 don't have to fuck everyone from the webmaster to the surfer to make their payouts... so no need to make massive chages, because what goes around comes around... :) |
