video signal splitter?
is there such an animal? Something external I guess that you could plug say, three or four monitors into, and connect to one video card input? Not like a kvm switch that swaps between them, but runs them all simultaneously so I can expand the desktop to multiple monitors? twins screens is nice, but I'd like to experiment with more if possible, without extra video cards.

What I did was run a second monitor from each of two machines on my network. For ex., I have a desktop running 2 monitors and a laptop also running 2 monitors. On the desktop I have all of my design apps up and running, on the laptop I have my e-mail client and IE running. I just pass info from machine to machine when needed.
Possible scenario... On the desktop I am building a page in DW, and moddins graphics in PS. I need an image from the web or whatever, so i use the laptop for browsing (also check mail real quick). When I find what I need, I can save it to whichever drive from the laptop, the pull the file on the desktop. Simple scenario, but this is all I could come up with after looking myself for a splitter with no luck. Let me know if you find one, I want another 19" or 2 on my desk! |

There are video cards with 4 screen connectors.
You can also just get 2 cards with 2 each. There are some PCI cards that are pretty good now and have 2. |
