So... Anyone else eating healthy?

Just curious if anyone else is watching calories. I whipped this up for dinner tonight.

Just some low calorie store-brand soup, with some frozen broccoli and cauliflower tossed in, and brought to a boil.

The yellow stuff is spaghetti squash, with a little bit of pesto mixed in. Spaghetti squash is odd stuff. I just cut one in half, tossed it in a bowl with some water, and microwaved it for 6 minutes. Took it out, scooped out the center, then just raked the thing with a fork to turn it into spaghetti.

Took like 10 minutes to make, and is pretty low fat, low carb, low calorie, (providing you go easy on the pesto!) inexpensive, and filling meal.

Anyone else out there got any low calorie recipes?

:thumbsup right on, I just ate a pile of greasy b-b-q'd shit.

but I had a diet coke so it's cool.

I had spaghetti squash tonite, cooked on the grille. It's one of my faves! It seems to be the "never-ending" squash. Just when you think you've eaten it all, just dig a bit more with your fork, and volia, MORE spaghetti squash! :) I Cooked it up with a standing prime-rib roast and crab legs, all on the grille. Excellent dinner...

I know there's alot of controversy here about the atkins diet, and I don't want to get the atkins haters riled up, but atkins.com has lots of very good low-cal recipes on it.

Gotta love it. I've been trying to eat low calorie, so I can go nuts on pizza, b-b-q, etc etc and not feel guilty about it. :D

Tuna, Shiitake mushrooms & onions.

<a href="http://free.homegrownvideo.com/clips/1-23-04/DSC00496.JPG"><img src="http://free.homegrownvideo.com/clips/1-23-04/DSC00496_s.JPG"></img></a>

8oz of tuna. I coated one side with some wasabe, and sprinkled it with furikake. (Like a sprinkle seaweed topping, for rice normally). I just sprayed some pam on a pan, and flipped it after a few minutes. If you can get fresh tuna, it's the bomb to only sear the outside, and leave the middle raw. I cooked this a bit more than I had planned, but it was still pink in the middle.

I cut up an onion, and some shiitake mushrooms, and boiled them with a little bit of water, soy sauce, japanese cooking wine, and a lot of garlic powder.

exactly. Diet Coke is all you need, eat as much as you want of anything your heart desires, as long as you have the Diet Coke elixir you're on your way to the new slim trim you. At least that's what the 350 pound lady poured into the stretch pants eating two Wendy's double burgers beside me today told me.

Over a year ago I decided to concentrate on eating healthy.

Good stuff.

eating healthy is good n' all, but if you're goal is to lose weight do you know your daily metabolic rate? RMR + daily activities? find out that number, and consume 500/600 calories less than that per day.. and you'll lose a pound a week or so. combine that with exercise and burn a few hundred calories as well a day... eat good foods, proteins, low carbs... early morning cardio

my site will have all of this shit automated once its ready, it'll be a personal trainer... :)

Damn Spike, your making me hungry.

Both of those meals looked excellent. I definitely need to get back into the low calorie diet. If I find any good recipe's I will send them your way.

Damn, now I feel exceptionally guilty about the mud pie I just had at the Black Angus; but, I washed it down with black decaf, so the mud pie calories don't count--right?????

I like Spaghetti squash but I haven't been able to find it over here in the UK. Maybe it is called something different and I just haven't figured it out but so far it is seven years and no luck.

I can get butternut squash now which is really good if you ' soy roast' it.

If you want to roast root veggies other than potatoes - carrots, parsnips, that kind of thing a good way of doing it without using oil is to cut them up chunky style, use a little non fat spray (fri lite in the UK) and then drizzle low sodium soy sauce over them. Make sure there is soy sauce on all the bits and stick in a hot oven until they are how you like it.

Throw an onion on that tray and it really adds flavour. On weight watchers that is a total freebee.

I am working on my 6 pack for Cancun show. Been working out so far in 2003, now just need to get the diet in order. Very tough to eat well with a lot of travel.

freeadultcontent 01-25-2004 10:16 PM

Homegrownvideo, just watch the sodium levels in those canned soups. Everything else looks fantastic.

I nearly always cook healthy, but I never take pics of it.

StacyCat 01-25-2004 10:51 PM

Mmm, spaghetti squash.

I hate cooking it because its a bitch to cut in half, but I love it! :-) I will have to try grilling it next time.
