I am sick with Bronchitis and the doctor

...prescribed Doxycycline...two...100mg tablets per day. I have been taking them for two days and no noticeable improvment. Anyone taken this drug before? If so what is a realistic time frame for the drug to begin to take affect?

Honeyslut 01-25-2004 12:42 AM

Are you sure your doctor did not fuck up ?

My daughter takes that for her acne.

Doxycycline is an antibiotic medicine belonging to the class called "tetracyclines." It is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It does not treat viral infections, such as the common cold.

soon theking will die. Will he leave his monitor on for his successor?

Just my :2 cents: ... if you take antibiotics you would normally feel some serious improvements after 2 days. If not, you have to switch ... some bacterias are imune against certain typse of antibiotics. Call your doc and tell him about it.

Babagirls 01-25-2004 01:10 AM

100 mg??

i get bronchits every year. I use an inhaler to clear my lungs out then a VERY strong anti to knock it out of my system.

Theres been a few more, but hell, everytime i get it, the doc Rx's me a different med.

Honeyslut 01-25-2004 01:17 AM

Theking,

If you are having trouble breathing, have your doctor give you an inhaler . There are serveral for short term one that is used for situations like yours.

Ironic. The ones that would benefit the most from medication are the ones that refuse to take it.

This stuff will work.

But it has nasty side effects. I had an attack of gout in my feet.

appleboy 01-25-2004 04:22 PM

wait 2-3 days, the anti biotic needs to be at a certain level in your system to start to work, in the meantime try staying in the bathroom with a hot shower going to loosen the junk in your lungs and or have soup , or just boil a big pot of water to moisten the air
