Funny, I have to give my docotor a huge check every time I see him, whether I'm in the mood to thank him or not.

You have that problem too?

I just don't see how giving a huge check to a doctor is news. Don't most of us do this involuntarily?

the uk has the nhs and although you have to wait longer and its crap service. they fix you up eventually for free

well, it is a story about a British guy in a British hospital writen for a British newspaper (though calling the Sun a newspaper is stretching it) so you are right..how dare they not consider that an American might not find it unusual for someone to pay loads of money for hospital treatment.

well I personally pay American and UK taxes..I get fuck all for the American for the British I get treated when I am sick..my life saved twice, my husbands saved many times and not a single bill.



Manowar ..I know what you are saying but I grew up without an NHS so even though it needs a lot of work (more nurses etc) I would never want to live without it.

My husband still gives me a hard time because it takes me forever to go to the doctor when I am sick..he says I have to stop thinking like it is going to cost me money and put the health first.

I have only had one bad experience on the NHS and that was an individual doctor.

I can go to a doctor free here if I just had to. Aren't your taxes outrageous over there though?

UK = Low taxes. Especially if you are in the higher tax paying bracket compared to other countries.
