no one gives a flying fuck about those lame awards anyway, but why is it that the people that buy their advertising always get the awards ... tell me !!!!

I'm just upset that my site wasn't nominated for what ever that "new service" category is that Stats Remote won.

I mean, I know Stats Remote would still kick my ass and win, but a nomination would'a been nice :(

That is not true. Alec and Lori (and Marsha the year before) have done a good honest job. We did not win but were nominated both years.

Yeah ARS won in the sponsor cat. for example, and I don't think they do any ads with xbiz.

They are a great company and deserved to win, as did all the other winners.

You can only have one winner per cat. and 5 nominees and in this business there are so many co's that they could have 5 to 500 nominees in each cat. if they didn't limit it.

Same here... we haven't spent a single cent for advertising on XBiz or any other sites or services run by Helmy...

True dat. Same here. Two nominations, no wins. And if anyone noticed, we have had either #1 or #2 spot in the sotware category on XBiz for over a year.

AND I was even a judge in one of the categories (of course not my own, if I was, I would have won :Graucho )

I've been a judge both years and it didn't seem fixed to me.

I was the presenter for GFY when it won the year before.

Did you think GFY winning was fixed? It got 'popular choice' which all the judges voted on.

The complaint last year was about those who weren't nominated; yet, the nominations are all done by webmasters.

I know Marsha. She's one of my best friends and she would never be a part of anything which was fixed. She ran a clean contest.

The winners were deserving.

That's simple: many of the top companies in this industry are smart enough to advertise where serious webmasters hang out.

Not true - while we had over 700 nominations this year - which come from webmasters, not XBiz - these were compiled into the four finalists in each category, from which the panel of judges (there were like 40 judges, NONE of whom work for HELMY or XBiz) selected the winners.

Well, as I stated above, the nominations come from webmasters, not XBiz - so all you had to do was nominate yourself - which is something you should do next year. Of course, you need to have a bunch of satisfied customers and friends also nominate you, as 1 nomination does not a finalist make...

There will always be whiners, sore losers, and the misinformed who have nothing better to do than criticize a process that they know nothing about.

One thing I can assure you of - if you ever receive an XBiz Award
- it will because you DESERVE it - NOT because you 'bought' it...

Never spend a dime with Xbiz "yet" got nominated last time around though.

Arranging shit like that would be far to fucking risky to do for a company such as xbiz imo so why risk that?

I don't currently advertize on XBiz... and one of my sites was nominated up with GFY.
