    How can you tell if your phone is being tapped?

    The last few days I have noticed these clicking sounds after a couple of minutes into a phone conversation...

    is my phone being tapped? any way to tell if it is?

      okay, 32 years in the biz talking here.

      There are 2 types of wiretaps. Legal and illegal.

      If it is a legal one, you are fucked and there is no way you will know it until you have been arrested and the discovery process begins, and the prosecution tells your attorney that they had a warrant to do a wire tap on your phone.

      If it is illegal, they are going to have to have installed the equipment physically on your line, at your premises. You can physically look for something odd under your house attached to the phone lines or connected to the protector on the outside of your home/business. Other than that, you can have your house professionally swept.

      Most likely you have a high-resistance open/ground/short.

      My advise is never say anything on the telephone that you would be bummed to see on the front page of the LA Times.

          Say a bunch of anti-government things in a conversation, if black vans pull up to your house, it's tapped.

          But seriously, baddog probably gave you the best advice you could get.

                                          Time the clicks , if they happen at certain intervals its a good sign your being tapped , But the bad side is nobody uses the old phone taps except lawyers and criminals

                                          The feds can just record from the telco and it cant be detected.
